How to establish embassies?
. Double click the star next to your own capital to establish embassies.

There is no star next to my capital-- ??????

I have played up to the industrial age I am researching Comunisim and have all optional techs from the previous age.

How do I make treaties? When I go to the diplomacy screen I can trade tech, money, luxuries, and cities but the only treaty I have been able to make is a peace treaty.

The star is just to the right of your capital city's name. You need an embassy to make treaties.

First, find your capital city in the game area map. You can use the find function to help locate it.

Second, unless your civ is without a palace, the capital (duh!) WILL have a symbol of a star beside it. Simply double-click on it and a menu to establish an embassy will appear. It's that simple really!

Maybe I am blind .. I was not able to find a star next to my capital .... will look again tonight

You can also right click on your capital & choose conduct espionage. Hitting the "H" key will take you right to your capital.
