Diplomacy Questions for Noob

I did some searches but could not find any specifics.

What do I need to do to get other AI civs to go to war with my enemy, join my religion or ask them to stop trading with another civ?

AI civs are asking me these types of questions and I have not figured out how to ask them?

I have been playing at the noble level with most of the technologies researched.

The only thing that I have been able to do through diplomacy is to set-up trade and exchange technology.

It's in the trade screen. You click on the diplomacy icon on the top right of the screen with the other "management" icons. From there you chose "I want to propose a trade" and then you scroll down the list of things that you want to trade for. The things you can trade will be on the right, and the things that are on the left are the things you can ask for. You will not be able to ask for everything, only those things that are printed in white. If they are printed in red, the AI refuses to trade for them.

thanks for the instructions but how or when can I ask for other requests beside trade?

The more a civ likes you the more diplomacy options you'll have open to you. Try getting them up to friendly (shared religion, running preferred civics and trade deals can all help).

That's what makes this game so replayable.
You can play a different way every game if you want.
