Discussion (warning: WITH spoilers) of the Severance tv show

I know what you mean, but I hope they find something interesting to do.
Imagine wanting to give the impression they have something of note to present, but starting S02 with an in-joke about how "it has been a minute" ;)
On the form-side, however, what really annoyed me was giving away obvious bits of information, instead of trying to build it up (Helly's bit may be later revealed to have been a convolution and double-agent-typed, but still the form of presentation remains the same).

It's almost impressive, in a way, how instead of mystery and inference - which was apparently all accidental - now they literally show everything. It still can be overruled - but by such a point the convolution would have buried all.

Imo they should have stuck to what they actually wanted to do (out of fear), that is never have a season 2.

Yeah, I am watching it but I have no real idea what is going on. I have avoided this thread until I was caught up, to avoid spoilers.

So, I've rewatched the last two eps of S1 and ep 7 (Gemma's episode).

My theory on what the deal is with the severance procedure and how Gemma plays into it:

Dr. Mauer tells Gemma that soon 'she'll see the world and the world will see her.' Then as I was rewatching the final episode of S1, it hit me. Helena was the center of attention in what looked like a pivotal PR event designed to promote the severance procedure.

Now I'm thinking that this is what Mauer was referring to; Gemma is being prepared to become the ideal showcase to the world for the severance procedure.

A severed person where the original outie has been erased in their original form and only the obedient innie (or innies) remain. Lumon's pitch will be 'a life where pain and trauma are expelled' from your experience.

So, I reckon Cold Harbor is Gemma finalizing becoming a 'new Gemma' no longer suffering from past trauma. That's what Lumon will sell their severence procedure to the world on.
