I'm wondering if anyone has access to a relatively rational right winger and can do some research for me.
The two fake news sources I monitor to see what sort of feces the right wing are devouring for future regurgitation are Fox and Breitbarf. While they have at times disagreed on details, their main themes have always been pretty much lockstep, and have set the agenda for other right wing media outlets as well as shills everywhere. But they are skewing wildly divergent today.
On the pending government shutdown Breitbarf and their loyal followers are taking Trump's lead that it is the fault of congress, and acknowledging that congress is currently held by Republicans who "should be" just handing over the cash for Trump's peni...errrr, wall...on their way out. Faux News is not emphasizing the very real fact that Trump himself claimed ownership of the shutdown, and is trying to hold the usual line of "pin the blame on the Democrats," despite Trump and their fellow right wing propaganda source undercutting their position.
Breitbarf is also biting hard on the Trump version of "wag the dog," in which the controversy over tucking tail and running from Syria is supposed to serve as a distraction. Here too, Faux News is not cooperating. Their coverage of the distraction is ample, as intended, but they are actually being extremely savage towards Trump. They are focused on the divide between Republicans, led by Lindsey Graham who is outright calling the president a liar, and the Trump version of "the facts." That Trump is telling lies that are absurd on their face is of course nothing new, but it does not usually make the program on Fox.
This very matter of fact dismissal of the White House as an even remotely credible source is interesting, in that I don't see how it can play in the right wing echo chamber of "any news is fake news unless they agree with Trump." Obviously the Breitbarfers are beyond the reach of truth and will just dismiss Fox as having "gone into darkness," but with millions of people having taken Fox as gospel for a decade will they all just turn it off?
So, who knows a follower of the echo chamber and can sound them out?
