Hi, I have a Dell XPS 1530 which does run hot. I have installed the latest BIOS to hopefully manage its heat issues. It is using a Nivdia GeForce 8600M GT card. Yesterday it crashed the driver once. Today about 4 times and less time between each crash. Only seems to happen with Civ 5. Any ideas or news of when the next patch will be released?

Thanks

Ray

Are you still in warranty? If not, you should stop playing Civ5 on your Laptop, as this might kill it. Try to update the BIOS for a potential workaround

It's a long story, but basically it's neither Firaxis nor Dells fault, but nVidia screwed up big time.

Damn, same card here

Lol well past warranty. Can play in Direct 9, just with crappy graphics. Lol so my card has been cooked because XPS runs too hot, no great surprise there then. Leaning towards just replacing the laptop, XPS with Vista was not a great experience. But now Civ 5 is licensed to this laptop????

No, it's licensed to your account, you can install it on whatever computer you like to, how often you like.

Thank the gaming gods for that one. Still crashing today with Dir 9. Think the amount of graphics is too much for it. But the game is so encompassing, :-)

it actually seems to be a driver issue. I had the some problem but updated to the new beta drivers; it works perfectly now.
