Can someone explain to me why Civ doesn't have different artstyles beginning with gunpowder units? It was great that BTS made ethnic styles for axmen, knights, etc., but why do all gunpowder units have to look alike? As if there aren't different types of uniforms worn by gunpowder units? They could have different styles and colors. Various military uniforms became much different after gunpowder, not more alike
.
I know some people will say "well the Aztecs never had riflemen," but so what? The Americans never had axmen, but that doesn't mean their axmen looks exactly the same as every other axmen unit. The game becomes so boring at the end because it still feels so rushed, why do German infantry (which could have a really unique style) look exactly the same as Chinese infantry or Ethiopian infantry?
If Firaxis wanted to make us think "beyond the sword" in BTS, why did they leave the gunpowder units so generic and make the sword units more unique?
