DivX/AVI editor needed

I've been looking for a program that would let me cut and join segments of video, specifically AVI or DivX formats. Every program I have found loads the video, but not the picture. I assume it's a codec problem. Anyone know of a good editor with updated codec formats? (preferably free or trial version).

Try this DivX Search at Webattack. I haven't looked at the results to closely, but it looks like there's a bunch of stuff there.

how do i get the right codec to run?

search kazaa lite. When you find their homepage(weird url), go in. They have a whole section on codecs and video programs.

It should work unless you don't have the codec on your computer at all. Just find out what codec you need with GSpot. Then download it and install it. Virtualdub should then work.
