The art team gave Mvemba a large nose, especially if compared with other artists' depictions of him outside of Civ VI.

Whatever the magic number is, are we seriously going to spend the next part of the thread debating which number is the most likely? I mean I know we're running out things to talk about but even that seems a tad desperate... :p

EDIT: Oh wait, I thought I was on the most recent page, turns out we're talking about Mvemba's nose, its all good.

Oh, but what if it's relevant to DLC 06 and not DLC 05?

Of course he would say that! He wants to throw us off the trail because we're either getting too close to the truth or we're too good a sleuthing.

I believe it also can be a polite way of refering to another part of the anatomy.

I'm not going to try and wiki search a leader known for that.

But couldn't Dido have a large nose if you want her to?

Pete waxed on about how lovely Firaxis' sound department is for providing him with this file. The file, or its name, is apparently some kind of joke. He later told bite that it is not relevant to this thread's interests.

Maybe it's the sound of the leader rubbing their nose?

Let us pray to the one true crab god for a first look. And we should all go on a pilgrimage to the holy city of Baltimore. Don't forget to pay your 5% too! Firaxis is trolling us with these alternate history videos lol.

Yusuf ibn Tashfin (Almoravid dynasty of Morocco) reputedly had a large hooked nose. Also, a una-brow and big ears. He must have been quite something to see.

Re: the nose discussion, we don't really have many pictures of Mvemba from his time, so any portrayals of him are necessarily guesswork. But it's true that for Civ V for example, the developers hewed closely to portrayals of those leaders in their native cultures (Pachacuti and Kamehameha were both based on statutes of them, for example, and Sejong also looks like a *slightly less plump* version of a statue of him in Seoul.)

No, because that makes as much sense as introducing Winston Churchill as ruler of France. Nzinga was never a ruler of Kongo. Ndongo was a tributary kingdom and sometimes-ally of Kongo, but not Kongo itself. Same is true of Matamba, which Nzinga also ruled. If Nzinga makes it into the game, she would likely have to rule over an Angola-ish civilization of some sort which could be a catch-all for Ndongo and Matamba. That said, I think they will keep her as a great person and introduce other African queens as rulers in the future. There are many to choose from (and most nearly all of them warriors).

Couldn't it just be some kind of ambient background fx of mosquitoes buzzing? That could fit with the more equatorial regions the new leaders are coming from. I don't understand where the leap to people's noses came in?

It could perhaps be related to the proboscis monkey:

It helps that it's native to Borneo.

Ok, I've mistaken it in my last post.

When "Majapahit/Indonesia" is the one Civ from SEA and the other new Civ is from Africa the additional new leader must come also from SEA or Africa.
But we did not have any Civ from SEA yet and we only have 2 Civs (Kongo and Egypt) from Africa.

So the third new additional leader is either from Indonesia, Kongo, Egypt or from the new African Civ.

I speculate that dlc 006 contains a second leader for Egypt, because this incomparable Civilization of Ancient Egypt has especially just deserved to get a second option. We have the usual suspects: Ramesses II. and Hatshepsut, but I hope this time it will be a leader from the Old Kingdom (e.g. Narmer or Khufu) or from the Middle Kingdom (e.g. Amenemhat I who is considered to be the ruler of a golden age).

Queen Anna Nzinga is from the same era like Nzinga Mpangu and Kongo is not that important even in this time frame that they should get a second leader before Egypt! Of course Mali with two leaders, Mansa Musa could be the one and Askia the other, is also possibly but I go with a second leader for Egypt.:egypt::egypt::egypt:

So now we are speculating the new civ is a tribe of colorful monkeys from Borneo?

As long as they have cool uniques I guess. Maybe bananas are an amenity?

Can't wait to see the agenda.
