Random question, yes, but what I mean is, when you read a text, do you think the font it's written in affects your attitude/opinion towards/of it? I mean, if something is in 'comic', do you think the text is funny, un-serious, if it's 'times new roman', businesslike, 'arial', modern, 'all caps', raving,... Or do you just not notice this sort of thing?

Depends on the setting. If I'm reading a report written in some 12-year-old cutesy font, I'm going to have a hard time taking it seriously.

Fonts no. It's just a choice of what's easy to read. Bolding or something like that is just to draw particular attention to specific points.

In RL, as long as it's readable, it's fine.

Here though, if it isn't the default then it annoys me slightly.

I've seen some supposedly serious reports where the aim seemed to be to include as many different fonts as possible. I also get annoyed at difficult to read fonts (or ridiculously small type). I do try and ignore it, but like loads of spelling mistakes, once it goes too far it distracts me from the content and I spend all my time picking the formatting apart rather than reading the report. Keeping it clear is the main thing. I actually prefer Comic Sans to Times New Roman, the serifs just get in the way and take up the space that could make the main part of the letter larger.

I know a guy who graduated with Honors at a university, and applied for a job, and wrote his resume in comic sans and then he got cut after the first round. (iirc there were around 50 people looking for the job, and he was one of the first to be eliminated, and he i bet was probably the only one to graduate with honors). So Font users, beware.

I take everyone perfectly seriously.

Depends how it is used. I don't mind it when I'm on a forum, but when in the real world it's different. I can't stand it when I see a shop on the street and recognise that their title was done in Comic Sans MS, or some other recognisable font. It just makes the whole shop look very amateur.

Has no effect on me.

So long as I can read it and it's not on the stupid wingdings font set!

I don't even want to speculate on how that pink font looks on some of the skins here!

I like Comic Sans; it's the font used for my favorite webcomic (Fuzzy Knights). I use it occasionally here, and it's meant to emphasize my post in a humorous way.

Look at me! I can be unique! I'm so interesting that 12pt Times New Roman / 10pt Arial can't fully express who I am! This font is totally me! It's part of my identity! OMG Please pay attention to meeeeee!

When there's an "industry standard", then deviations usually make me take the author less seriously.
