Do I need to buy Warlords?

I want to play Civ IV in its full magnitude, including all content released in the expansion packs. Does the BTS pack includes all the Warlords content or will I have to buy Warlords and BTS separate pack to have all content?

Save your money.

As long as you get BtS then you are sorted. The only thing not included from Warlords is some iffy scenarios, apparentely the BtS scenarios are better (I haven't tried any yet!).

Oh, if BTS only lacks some scenarios from Walords, then it's OK, I'm not buying. I wanted to know if Warlords has any core gameplay mechanics that has not been added to BTS.

I think the fact that they still sell Warlords is sort of insulting.

What about how they still sell rotary phones? Is that insulting too? ;)

Maybe a collector wants every civ game ever made. Maybe someone read these forums and decided they didn't want to try BTS after all. Don't take things so personally, no one is insulting you by selling an older product.

I liked Warlords a great deal, but it's definitely unnecessary if you intend on getting BTS.

OH MY GOSH!!! I bought warlords for no reason then

With the possible singular exception of Road to War, the scenarios and mods in BTS are absolutely ghastly. Crappy and naff. OTOH the Warlords scenarios are pretty neat if imperfect chances to recreate some exciting moments in history. Warlords is certainly worth $10 because you'll get at least ten hours out of the scenarios :) I wish someone with modding knowledge could update the Warlords scenarios for BTS though

Well, I'm all good with Warlords. I had it for about a year before I had BTS. I guess the idea that you can still buy the product with most of the leaders and no Corporations / Colonies / Espionage is okay, but really, it's a corporation and if they can catch a few suckas who'll pay for Warlords, then OOPS!, pay again for BTS, then it's all the better for them. That's the insulting part. But free market sets us up for this and it can be expected.

Have you played the mod Final Frontier? Granted that there's no "aliens" in it.... it's a pretty cool mod, which almost feels like a new game and in the veins of Alpha Centauri. :goodjob:

To add the fun on top of all this: at least here in Hungary, Warlords actually costs more than BTS... :crazyeye: :crazyeye: :crazyeye:
