I'm buying a new PC and I'm looking at the diff. parts I'm buying and I came across network interface cards (first I've ever heard of it). I do game online but I've never had any serious long-lasting problems with my ping.

yes or no?

1st, you need to define your parts better :p What's your internet and how does your computer connect to it? High speed internet typically has a modem that is external to the computer, and then connects to the computer via an Ethernet cable. That's so common that most motherboards now have that ethernet jack as a standard part. If that is the setup you are looking to get, then you need no other hardware. A "network interface card" is most likely (but not exclusively, because there are other standards) an Ethernet card. So you solve your problem by buying a motherboard that has one built onto it.

If you have a wireless router, then you need a card in the computer that matches the standard of the router you are using.

No. Most motherboards have an integrated network adapter which is enough for most gamers

Gaming level NIC's are for professional gamers or ones with lots of extra money. In other words, don't buy one.
