A quick question that I figured would spur some discussion; so I made it into its own thread.

Civilization V had this feature and you could easily circumvent it by installing them as dlc, or reloading a previously modded save.

So does Civilization VI block achievements when you have a mod installed?

Personally, I would like to have a Paradox style, where graphics mods do not influence achievements, since they don't alter gameplay whatsoever.

I hope not. I never played CiV with mods cus I'm scared of missing out on achievements (and never knew about this installing as DLC thing?)
But always wanted to play with modded maps. Like the gigantic earth map.

Hope mods like maps don't affect achievements

I always thought it was silly to disable achievements for using mods when there are so many ways to just cheese achievements with save scumming and multiplayer. Why is playing a full and completely legitimate game with a balanced modded Civilization unworthy of the "Beat the game on x map type" victory while picking a Pangaea duel map on settler with Venice as your main enemy 18 times totally worthy of the "Master of the Universe" trophy? I think mods shouldn't disable trophies unless they SPECIFICALLY just give you trophies (like you just boot up the game and it automatically declares all achievements completed) and even then I'm sort of apathetic as achievements are worth nothing but bragging rights. I've gotten several platinum trophies and 100% completion on steam by legitimate means but why should I care if someone else cheated to get theirs? It's a meaningless title anyway and the fact that they are willing to cheat just to trick people into thinking they're good at a video game (without affecting anyone else's enjoyment of said game) just goes to show that they're... really really sad and lead horribly vacuous lives. They deserve pity, not scorn.

The Aztec DLC seems to be listed as a "mod" in the game and that doesn't disable achievements.

Funny, you can modify the XML all you want and still qualify for achievements (at least in V you could) but mods are evil....

I don't feel like I should be able to vote as I don't care for the achievements. But I certainly am going to play with a few mods once they come out, it brings a lot to the enjoyment of civ to me. I would think that it would to others as well, and I think letting them play how they want and still be eligible to get their achievements. I think it should be a player decicion wether the achievements should be enabled or not, so that you can turn them off if you're trying a new mod and don't want to ruin yourself by getting loads of achievements unfairly. Of course there will be players using it to cheat to get achievements, but do we really care about them? I don't.
