Do the Developers Pay Any Attention to Our Bug List?

Question: Do the developers of Civ 5 pay any attention to our compiled buglist, or even know about it?

It seems they might not know, since so many of these bugs are simple things that should be easy to fix, and yet they've been around since the initial release without anything being done about them, and without the patches addressing them. In their defense, the patches have certainly fixed some of the bugs on that list, but it's been months since the initial release, and so many more bugs still remain unaddressed.

Anyway, if the devs don't know about this list or don't pay attention to it, then three things...

(1) They NEED to. Oh my God, they need to. Civ 5 is so buggy it's ridiculous, and something needs to be done. It's like they released the game without doing any testing at all.

(2) I feel like I wasted my time with the effort I have spent finding and reporting bugs, including posting savegames, taking and converting screenshots, and writing up descriptions and steps to reproduce. Is there any reason for any of us who contribute to the buglist to bother if the devs aren't even paying attention? Okay, I know it's helpful to other players who realize they're not crazy when they see all sorts of bizarre behavior in the game, but it's still very frustrating if the devs aren't paying attention.

(3) Is there anything we can do to let them know about this buglist?

The Firaxis lead producer has already posted in some threads in the bug forum, and the admins have contact to Firaxis, so i guess the devs know about the list.

Wouldn't it make more sense to report your bugs on the 2K forums? What does "confirmed bugs" mean on that list? Only Firaxis/2K can confirm something as a bug, not fans. Take it to the source, I say.

"Confirmed" means that at least one other person has taken a look at the same savegame and also sees the bug.
And some bugs don't need any confirmation by Firaxis, because modders have found for some already the bugs in the code itself.

I guess my point is that a fan site calling something a confirmed bug means nothing as to whether it will be fixed or not. If Firaxis confirms something is a bug, I expect them to fix it.

they're too busy running out the lead and/or making new dlc civs to actually fix minor non game-breaking issues yet. check out the mods list in-game, however, I think that most bugs are addressed by mods already.

Sorry, I didn't understand a phrase in this post: what do you mean when you write "running out the lead"?

The best thing you can do to help get bugs fixed is sort the bug fix list into logical categories to same developer time. There are only so many people working on the game and the time it takes to open hundreds and hundreds of threads, read through thousands of replies and then figure out each issue, where it is and how to fix it, is enormous. There is a lot of wasted time doing redundant tasks in that process which could be removed with categorical bug lists.
For example, if there was an 'XML Bugs' list, combining all the xml changes needed into a single list that could just be copy/pasted in, that would take one person maybe all of an hour verses a week or more that would have been spent reading through individual reports and opening/closing the same files over and over again.

As with all things in life, there is only so much time available which really makes organization key.

Past patches for Civ games have directly reflected forum feedback from Civfanatics. I doubt anything has changed. But, it has always been the case that some things which seemed like easy fixes lingered for long periods of time. Not sure why, but, that's just the way things went.

So in short, they know about the bug list, but things just take a while to get dealt with. Sometimes a long, long while.
