Greetings,

Regarding the possible tech deal between CDZ and CFC, we like to bring the following proposal to cfc's attention.
While CDZ's main preference, as indicated during the chat, is obtaining gold (per turn), we understand that the situation that CFC is in atm, as explained to us during the chat, limits the possibility of delivering large gold per turn payments. Considering this situation, we have decided for this occasion to enhance our offer of selling construction to cfc from our original 25 gpt offer to 18 gpt and one size 1 city, (which we'd prefer to, atm of delivery, not be in danger of being ransacked by barbarians).

Looking forward to your reply,

with kind regards,

The CDZ-Team.

1 - pay 25 gpt for const
2 - Pay 18 gpt + 1 city for const
3 - don't do this deal, instead do : post in reply
4 - don't do any deal at all.

Voted option three.
I do think we shouldn't pay them more than those techs cost us, i.e. 17 gpt. We'll have to renegotiate.

I should've brought this (=the costs of techs) up at the chat we had with CDZ. Sorry. But I'm sure they'll understand what I'm saying. I think I'll have a unofficial chat about it with someone at CDZ when I have the chance.

I believe that we should not pay them more than that tech is going to cost us... particularly since we may find that another civilization will contact us with a better offer. If they want to make some money from the transaction, we can agree to not sell to C3B (which we would not anyways) but they should then be giving us a bargain, not a premium, for the tech.

No ,not we "not dealing with C3B ,but THEy "not dealing with C3B" ,wich would isolate C3B and geostrategicly bind CDZ to us for our war plans.

Yes, make their two galleys part of the task force, refit their ships there and make them rush 4 units for their galleys, and let them take Recife, during our strike at Rio.

Please, note that we should not give them cities which have hills, mountains or desert in the radius. Since we don't know where is saltpeter. Grassland is fine. And the city be better completely useless and corrupt for us.

Voted for option 2 but certainly implied no deals with C3B.

Looks like if they throw in "no deal with C3B", it will be acceptable to most of the citizens.

May be it is a good time to contact CDZ and let them know.

Matrix and me have contacted Kemal on the subject of the deal and Kemal will post "no C3B trade" offer on CDZ forum. It might go through and they will let us know about it.

THAT MUCH GOLD PER TURN FOR A TECH? I THINK NOT!

How about a city for healing their ships, (plus a base for an attack against C3B) for construction. Maybe can can add 20 gold at the most if it is needed.

As it has been discussed, this is mostly the matter of establishing trust. And still we benefit by not researching ourselves. Although city is a big deal to give. Worth obviously more than 7 gpt. However, no trade with C3B is also a big deal and long-term committment for CDZ.

Trust needs to be given in another way, not with that much money! What if CDZ decides not to help us in a war against C3B, then we could have used that money for our troops.

I do agree we need to make it clear to them that giving this amount of money is not because we are stupid, but because we try to build up a friendship here.

... and to get to a point where we could go towards different branches of the tech tree. You did mention that on your talks woth CDZ didn't you?

May I ask the question how are will be checking the no-trade with c3b clause?
And if we find out that they trade with c3b regardless of the treaty, what can we do?

This is completely ineffective, and therefore we shouldn't be asking them this. We should however try to convince them of the fact that we are a better trading partner. Therefore I would support this large payment to get a tech from them. We have to show our willingness. We have to understand their position as well! No-one would start giving techs for nothing.

I would go for 20gpt for construction. Just a little bit more than we have to pay for it ourselves, and still a respectable offer. We shouldn't start giving away cities. Ever thought of the possibility that they hand the city over to C3B? That's just dangerous. Let CDZ remain in their caves.
