Do World Wars ever occur?

I have never played on Aggresive AI, but I will now. Bring on the World Wars!

I have had world wars and crusades happen to me often

Occasionally i will spark them off, pit the others against eachother. Then sit it out and mop up the spoils when the others are exhausted

I played on "aggressive AI" only once. And got my only "world war", though it didn't last long. I don't know why, but I was destroyed within a few turns
(Made a fatal mistake I can't remember just now)
