I consider Finland as a part of Scandinavia, but I know that some people don't. after posting one of my scenarios a Swedish guy (not this Swedishguy) said that Finland is not a part of Scandinavia and only Denmark, Sweden and Norway are the "real" Scandinavians. so what do you think?

It's what you think is more important.

I just told you what I think! I'll give you a different answer depending on the context.

You didn't provide a context, so I listed the two that matter: geography and culture.

I agree with that guy. Sweden, Denmark and Norway are Scandinavia. They can usually understand each other's language and share a recent history.

Finland speaks something completely different, and Iceland has been split from the continent for too long.

No, because my Swedish friend tells me that it isn't, and I believe him.

    Eh, I learned something today!

But only 5% of the population speak Swedish.

    Geographically no, culturally yes.

I don't count Denmark to Scandinavia either actually (geographically). I love you all the same though!

Saying Finland is a Scandinavian country is like saying Switzerland is a Latin country. Sure it borders Latin countries, but...

Yes, yes they do. And Finland speaks Swedish. Yet Switzerland is not a Latin country, and Finland is not a Scandinavian country.

    Yes, both geographically and culturally.

But my opinion is much less informed than many of you... so... I'll leave it up to those who know more than me :D

Question though. If Finns are not Scandinavian, what are they closer to?

Because if they are marginally different than Scandinavians, but are still culturally closest to them, they should still be included as Scandinavian, if merely denoted in a lighter shade of coloring on the map than the other three, to show they are marginally different than the others.
