    Hi all,

I usually play as a warmonger, so I go Autocracy late game.

I was looking at Order though, and it`s a pretty cool Policy tree. All the same, when would a player ever take it?

Isn't Freedom more tailored for cultural/science victory? Is Order only for Diplomatic victories? That'd be kind of lame. I was thinking it might be cool to take Order as a warmonger, but it's impossible not to take Autocracy because it's so good.

sometimes when I play as Japan and go kill people I take Order because Bushido = godlike for warmonger and the Just War belief is too good. Great Prophet bomb capitals and attack.

If I have a lot of cities and have expanded heavily or even sometimes captured foreign cities order can have a drastic effect on the output of your empire making it incredibly strong compared to the AI's so yes I do take order sometimes it just depends how the game has played out.

Order is good for a large empire that isn't a warmonger at the same time. That situation almost never happens in my experience.

I dabbled in it a few days ago. I tried to open up order as my fourth tree playing Russia. There's great synergy here if you can get to industrialization for the cheap factories in your tall cities. Then you can really go wide once you get going in the tree. Each time, I ended up finishing rationalism and opening Order for some spectacular science growth. makes for a longer game than my usual 3 or 4 city culture rushes.

oddly enough last night i continued a game maybe 11 turns after victory just to finally get the steam achievement for completing Autocracy. it also gave me the one for completing all the policy trees now. i prefer order but i did enjoy autocracy. but i was so far ahead of everyone that i wasnt particularly maximizing it.

I don't think I've ever used it.I'm not a warmonger and usually don't grow to be just a very big civ;but I've thought it might just be fun to try out sometime.

Opener: +1 Happiness/City, may purchase Great Engineers with Faith ... By the time you're entering the Industrial era, even with a large, sprawling empire, happiness probably isn't an issue. Still, this can allow you to sell your luxuries. Purchasing Great Engineers with Faith is a huge boon, IMO. Stack up GEs and instantly construct any Wonders you want.

United Front: Militaristic city states grant units twice as often when you are at war with a common foe ... This is garbage, IMO, because if you're taking Order instead of Autocracy, you're probably not a warmongerer.

Nationalism: 15% attack bonus when fighting in friendly territory ... Better than United Front as it helps you defend your expansive territory better. 15% is equivalent to a free promotion.

Planned Economy: Factories increase a city's Science output by 25%. Build Factories in half the usual time ... Two great bonuses in a first level policy that leads directly to an even meatier policy. Definitely the policy to start with 95% of the time if you take Order. Factories normally cost 360 Hammers, so dropping that down to 180 Hammers means you can get Factories up and going in a handful of turns in most decently-sized cities. On top of that, they turn Factories into super-buildings, producing +4 Production, +10% Production, and +25% Science.

Socialism: Gold maintenance costs of Buildings reduced by 15% ... If you have an expansive empire, odds are you're spending hundreds of Gold every turn on building maintenance, so a 15% reduction is a massive sum of Gold.

Communism: +2 Production per City and +1 Production for every Mine or Quarry ... Not the strongest finish to a tree, but some tidy bonuses. The +2 Production per City is pairs up nicely with the Closer as well as Republic (from the Liberty tree) combining for a free +5 Production in every city. +1 Production for every Mine or Quarry can turn your Iron, Stone, Marble, and Aluminum tiles into insane production tiles without the need for a Manufactory.

Closer: +2 Food, Production, Science, Gold, and Culture per city ... Feel free to build new cities at will wherever you feel like. Want that Uranium in the middle of nowhere with nothing but snow surrounding it? Go ahead. One of the strongest finishers of any Social Policy tree, IMO.

and every city will be great "just because". Everything else is a bonus, start tall then puppet out and raze the world while settling new cities where needed fearing no repercussion other than turns taken per city.

In vanilla, I adopted Freedom when I'm warmongering, it gives most happiness when I'm not annexing cities. (Autocracy can give more with courthouse of course) And order gave least happy so I didn't bother, later policies aren't good either anyways.

In G&K, I use Order opener pretty often since I can buy GE with order. But I hardly finish the tree, I back to Commerce/Honor/Rationalism then.

I often open Order and take Planned Economy for cheap factories and science boost. This way I can keep up with tech when I'm warmongering earlier in the game and neglect signing RA's and whatnot. Of course, Rationalism is essential for a science victory, but I believe I've won one when I took just a couple of policies down both Rationalism (Secularism, Free Thought) and Order (Planned Economy, sometimes Socialism)

Planned Economy has got to be my favorite policy. I like Factories, and giving them +25% :c5science: and +50% build rate is just an insane benefit. With wide empires, the production bonuses in Order are important.

I generally play small Civs on small maps but I like Order. In the GotM I took Order because I had 5 cities on my Island, plus found 2 or 3 more plus took over 1 or 2. I puppet sometimes, but sometimes I like to be in control in order to defend better. Order is actually really good, it just comes so late, if you're not in the top 2 or 3 Civs Order won't be much use.

If going for a science victory with only a couple of cities order is great. usually you put out good culture and can finish rationalism too soon so you waste those two free techs, so a quick detour into order for that 25% bonus is great.
