Do you have the 'Limitd Edition' Civ 3 version?

Based upon the large number of problems, bugs, and assorted anomalies in Civ III and in each patch, we ALL will soon have limited editions of sorts.

I bought the LE when the game first came out. I wish I had exchanged it for the normal version of the game when I had the chance though. The tech poster and the wimpy one paragraph letter that was supposed to be the designer's notes did not justify buying the LE IMHO. I've never even watched the making of Civ3 movie that came with the game either.

By the way you can just print out the tech tree from Civfanatics!

i agree with Moff J.
LE didn´t come close to my expectations!
We got f...ed.

However, i´m still thrilled to play this game. Mine works without any problems :)

I personally like the tin, its a lot cooler than some crummy cardboard box. :)

Most veterans here and at Apolyton especially with know the Epic struggle I had getting CivIII Limited Edition...it was costly, time consuming and sent me mad.

It is a very nice tin which I keep important documents in like my passport and birth certificate.

:D

I'll admit to having the LE version. In my defense, after sweet talking an Amazon CSR, I was able to get it for the same price as the normal edition. Though the tin is nice, what I'm most impressed with are the words "Limited Edition" on the CD. Pretty sad, no? :D

I also bought the stratagy guide with the LE edition the first day the game came out. I probably spent $80-$85 on a game I could have got for $50. I'm either a hard core civ fan, or just stupid. :(

Nope, I got it here in Australia, not that it was easy :D

Don't feel too bad. I actually picked up the strategy guide the weekend before the game hit the shelves. I should have returned that too but I guess I fell for the hype. There are a ton of good strategy guides available right here or over at some of the other civ sites that totally blow away the official strategy guide.

The official strategy guide is quite pedestrian in it's advice. Any 2 year old knows not to build a city on tundra. What the guide didn't get into were some of the nuances of the game, such as build on tundra or desert not to cultivate a thriving city but to claim land that potentially contains oil or saltpeter. The guide never mentioned that.

I bought the LE here in Taiwan, complete with a frickin Chinese manual. Boo Hiss. Truthfully, I didn't even notice it was the LE -it was the only copy they had. I saw Civ III, recalled nearly failing out of college playing the original, and started fumbling for my wallet. Costs 38 US dollars over here. Not bad.

I bought the limited edition the day it came out. In fact. where I bought it, Software ETC, that was all they had on display, so I had no choice.:( It's pretty lame.

I also bought the strategy guide, which was about as helpful as a hole in the head.

Yep, I let myself get screwed royally.

I got the LE three days ago, funny part is the store had about 30 LE boxes and the game has been out for a while too, ahh well i also noticed how regular edition come w/ manuals but on the back it says the manual is a LE feature, guess i wasted a good $10 by not buying the regular edition.

I got the Limited Edition for $49.99 which was the same price as the regular, because the store had given a $10 discount.

And a nice tin box. I really don't have many like that lying around at home so it comes to good use.
