Do you like the changes to Golden Ages in BTS?

  • Yes! The No Anarchy and reduced Great Person cost make them a more reasonable use of Great Persons.

  • No! Golden Ages are overpowered now. I preferred Warlord's Golden Ages.

In Warlords, I rarely used Golden Ages. Sometimes I would build the Taj or if I was going for a Space Race Victory I might use a Great Person Golden Age but I think I never played a game with more than two Golden Ages until now. IMHO, with the reduced Great Person cost, Golden Ages are easier to launch, less costly, and more valuable ( you can change civics without any anarchy ) and a lot more FUN. What do you think?

I never knew they changed it but I only had it for a while until I had to take my computer to get fixed then the people fixing it stole the graphics card so now I am very mad  but I never used golden ages except sometimes with great prophets so know I may actually use them.

I like it much, much better. The old Golden Age was far too weak, and also, you shouldn't suffer from anarchy while you're in your Golden Age.

Another major addition to the Golden Age is that you only need one Great Person to start your first Golden Age.

Much better. One less Great Person to start a Golden Age, the Mausoleum of Maussolllos makes them 50% longer, no anarchy - all make GAs more worth while.

I used the Golden Age maybe once with Civ4 and none with Warlords but in BTS so far they seem more valuable especially as mention before by others there is no anarchy when changing civics.

wow I can't believe so many people never used golden age before. Whenever I used them in vanilla my production practically doubles according to the mfg goods graph, GNP gets a decent boost as well.

The ayes have it, and rightly, I think. I am particularly happy they fixed the fact that previously, you couldn't change civics during a Golden Age without messing it up, so I might have to wait ten turns to switch to a new civic. It used to drive me nuts.

correct me if i'm wrong, but you always needed only 1 GP to start the first GA...

take this as your correction. In Vanilla and Warlords, you required two GP of different types.

This is officially the most lopsided poll I have ever seen on Civfanatics... 69 votes yes, 0 votes for no and other...

And my vote brings it to an even 80. Wow. Great job, Firaxis. You've spread joy and happiness throughout the forums.

The changes were very nice indeed! I wasn't a fan of golden ages at all, but now makes sense saving some GP to that purpose.
