In an effort to find more music I've been listening to things in German, french, hungarian, spainish, dutch, hebrew and what I think is some african dialect (Eithiopean). I can't understand alot of it but I don't care as the music is good. I found a song in english and wanted to know what some of thier other stuff was like, well it was in german and that led to a french band that was featured in one of the german bands songs.

Has anyone else found a song they liked and then linked to other songs only to find its in a language you dont understand but you like it anyway? Or am I a freak?

The looks you get when driving with german reggea/ska at 90 db are golden.

I enjoy listening to sign choirs while I drive.

I think it's a really good idea, because it makes us familiar to the sounds of various foreign words, and we can learn subtleties in their words. That way, if we ever learn what a word means through some other agency, you'll have an easy time remembering it.

And African choral music is awesome. And I don't even like good music.

Fifty's sig
Banning [Fifty and Perfection] is like a rite of passage for a mod.
A trip that should be taken more often.

Well, sort of. I've taken six years of Spanish, with waxing and waning comprehension, depending on who's around to practice with. I listen to some Spanish music. My understanding of Spanish is not good enough that I can listen to any given song and know exactly what's being said the first several times it's played. So, while I can sit down and figure out what the lyrics are if I care enough, I usually don't know specifically what they're saying.

Do I listen to music in languages I don't understand? Not really. Do I understand all the language in the music I listen to? No.

Yes, since most classical is not in English.

I also listen to Japanese pop songs, but that's more the doing of my sister putting her songs in my song list and me being too lazy to change it...

For the record J-pop, J-rock, K-pop, K-rock or any other 'K' 'J' "music" doesn't count as music.:mischief:

I can give you tips on nice French reggae/ragga/dub/ska music if you're interested :)

I mostly listen to music in French, English and Spanish, but I do not mind not understanding the words, as long as the voices are nice and harmonious.

I must confess I can't understand a word of most music I listen to. I find that good music is still good even if you can't understand what the singer is saying. These are my main foreign music:

Russian: Glukoza, Revolver, Red Army Choir, and some folk songs I don't know who the singers are.

German: Rammstein, Laibach(these are an odd case, they are Slovenians, they sing some in German, but I have heard songs of theirs in English also)

Afrikaans: Not much, just a couple songs by Bok van Blerk.

I like muslim music even though i really dont like islam.

I used to be hooked on French hip-hop for a while.

Same here!

I was hooked on Supreme NTM. Dudes are amazing, have great beats, and awesome voices. I couldn't stop listening to them even though I had (almost) no idea what they were saying.
