No. But I imagine that certain circumstances could change my emotional state enough to alter my viewpoint.

I know that rationality doesn't always win WRT myself.

I'd say it's about 1 in 100 right now. Could fluctuate as the annual incidence of proven innocents executed by the government rises and falls.

    Chicka, chicka, .Shane. :D

Of course, ideally people should not turn into serial killers. Preventive action is always better than reaction.
But that might be going a bit too far in this thread.

But if you have a good reason, that's ok?

And these situations are determined how, and by who?

Yes, in certain situations, it's needed. (Osama, Saddam, etc.)

He is responsible for the deaths of over a thousand people. This isn't about politics for once, this is about justice for a criminal.

We're at war with Osamah? And Saddam or we were the circumstances are different. And let's face it Osamahs still at large, and Sadams killing has just thrown another stick at a bees nest, the usual clever diplomacy in the ME.:p

Neither can a man in jail for life, a point you seem to be missing, and can someone show me some US statistics where the death penalty decreases the rates of murder, no thought not, that's because they don't.

    So reasons for:

    1) decreases number of murders
    2) costs less to the tax payer
    3) it makes the agrieved feel better(revenge)

Anyone car to debunk these? Oh we already have ;)

Frankly I'd rather trust an expert than 10 guys like myself with no clue about judicial matters.

and his death will likely result in a lot more deaths.

Really? A video of his death can, though.

Masquerogue you should now by now that the self righteous do not consider the implications of their actions, they are too busy being sure.

Thread-jacking. I'm not even touching this one.

Please demonstrate the benefit of having a convicted murderer escape prison and go kill the people who put him behind bars. Don't even ask for the "statistics where the death penalty decreases the rates of murder"; please stay sane and bear with me.

By good reason I mean if you were robbed and the mugger held a gun to your head but you also have a gun and you shoot him that is ok. Self defence. The ones who should be executed are the ones that commit the realy gruessome and unprovoced murders.

Kindly show me that the death penalty decreases murder rates, and you'll answer your own question. Kind of a non starter Katheryn.
