It says it gives 20% production bonus to buildings at a cost of 2 maintenance, but does this also apply to Wonders?

I always thought it did... An easy way to check would be to go to a city that has a workshop and no forge, start creating a unit, then switch to a wonder and see if production goes up by 20%

It gives bonus to buildings, not to overall production like factory does. So at least it shouldn't work with wonders.

So dont build your wonder city (usually capital) on a hill then.

You will want that windmill.

Good to know, the only reason I asked in the first place is because there are separate lists for 'Buildings' and 'Wonders'.

Yeah I got a nasty surprise as well when I discovered they do not work with wonders.

They are kind of useless imho. 20% faster building building, while being quite expensive. You need to build a lot of buildings for it to be worth it.

Its handy in an OCC challenge when you will be trying to build everything, but in other games it wastes too much time to build and adds too much maintenance.

Why do I feel this is true for everything apart from a dozen or so buildings at the very most.

For a city that focuses on culture and happiness buildings, workshop is awesome. Just make sure the city is producing more than 10 raw hammers or the bonus is wasted (2 hammers for 2 gold is hardly worth it).
