Does anybody know if it is still be possible to play Civ3 via internet?

Me and my friend developed in many years our own mod. We usually play it on WLAN, when we meat us. Years ago we also played through internet. But for a long time we didn`t get it working again. Although all necessary ports are forwarded correctly.

Does anybody know, if it still is possible to play Civilization 3 Conquests Multiplayer via internet?

Yes, if you both get the Steam version you can play online easily. If you both get the GoG offline version of the disc version you'd need to set up a virtual LAN via a VPN like Hamachi. The Steam version cannot be played in the same match as the non-steam version I believe.
