Does Civ4 WOrk with Celeron Processor?

Does Civ 4 work with a Celeron Processor 340, 2.93 Ghz?

When I run Civ 4 either everything is black apart from my units, or it is soooo slow. Do I need a new graphics card (becauase the one I have is no good)? Do I need more RAM (i have 490MB)?

Yes.

The black backgrounds could be a sign of no HW T&L support, but it could also be a bug in CivIV which shows in spec HW. However, it's impossible to answer your question without knowing the make and model of the card.

Do I need more RAM (i have 490MB)?

It's not absolutely necessary, but it will speed things up with larger maps. 1GB should be the recommended size, not 512MB.

by the way I do have a computer which Civ4 works on but I would like it to work on my laptop, which it doesn't.
