By the special /collectors edition I mean the one with the book, cds and figures!

Sounds like a daft question but I haven't actually seen it printed anywhere. I know the deluxe comes with Babylon so surely the special edition does too?

Wha.. Not the answer I wanted!
I was going to get the special edition too. In fact, I had already ordered my copy. At some point I found out that Babylon would only ship with the digital deluxe edition. That made me decide to get that one instead. Babylon owns, and should be in every Civ veteran's game! You can still order the special edition, and hope that Babylon will soon be offered as DLC.

Well i think its pretty insulting to the dedicated fans who've bought the 'collectors edition' to not get all the content, despite paying top whack! Bit of a slap in the face to be honest!

I can't believe they didn't tell everybody exactly what they were buying before they bought it. What's that? They did? Well then they didn't include a spoilers warning!

So how exactly do you get the lot?

Buy the game twice?

Again I'm not sure, but if you want to make sure that you have everything that is currently available, then I guess that you should buy the game twice, yes. As far as I know, there are at least two versions out there, which is the Steam Deluxe Edition and the boxed Special Edition. There could be a third version actually, offered by D2D. I recall reading that D2D offers an additional map pack, but someone will have to confirm this.

Yes, this is all very confusing and can be quite frustrating if you want to have the lot. I think that civilizations and map packs will be offered as DLC at some point, though. So if you want to have something tangible, I'd get the boxed Special Edition.

D2D offered as preorder bonus the first DLC pack (2 Civs + 1 scenario) + Civ3, all other retailers are offering map packs as preorder bonus.
Besides this, you are right. The special edition with the figurines does NOT include Babylon.

Another scam...Money-hungry developers\publishers will do that all the time.Look at Bioware. They're milking fans with a lot of DLCs.
