Trump pals around with criminals because he is one himself. The company one keeps says a lot about a person. Everyone in Trump's orbit has spent the last year lying on security clearance forms, lying to Congress, and/or getting raided by the FBI.

I don't know that they'll actually get Trump on this. Something tells me this is not the first time he's been investigated. But I'd bet a chunk of change that Jared is going to prison. Apple, tree, all that.

Well it won't be a remote possibility for the foreseeable future either. If for no other reason, Americans are simply too...complacent (I was going to say lazy, but that just didn't seem to be the right word). As long as the general population has the ability to complain and moan on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. that's about as far as the average American will take it. People simply have too much to lose by engaging in any type of wide-scale political violence.

The only way civil war or insurgency would become a reality in the US would be if there were some sort of major economic collapse. I'm talking something worse than the Great Depression. But as long as things remain relatively stable and the nation stays relatively wealthy and powerful, it simply won't happen even if the US goes full-on Nazi Germany.

I'm talking about exactly what I said: a low-level insurgency-type violence. Bombings, perhaps some assassinations of prominent officials, robberies, and so on. Mainly I'm talking organized violence, not 'lone wolf' stuff, though I wouldn't rule out lone wolf actors. This prediction partially hinges on the Republicans losing the next couple of elections. I just don't think Real America is going to take it lying down if a Democrat is poised to replace Trump in the White House.

For sake of discussion, let's say Mueller runs the table on these fools, and basically proves Russian collusion all the way up to Trump... and Trump lets him do so without firing him... and just for maximum fun, somehow Pence was in on it too... Then let's say, that the consciences of the Republicans in Congress are shocked, SHOCKED I tells ya!, or conversely, the firing of Mueller is just such an outrage to them... either way their principles are so offended that they declare they have no choice but to impeach, remove etc...

Yes in that scenario, I can go along with you on the idea that the base will say "Aw hells naw, the establishment betwayed us!" and then the bombings/shootings will continue until morale improves...

Or maybe they will just vote the Republicans out of office (or let them be voted out by not showing up).

EDIT: I will concede that if the Democrats miraculously gain control of both houses Trump is 100% toast without question. He will be impeached and removed (or resign) before they even sit down in those comfy leather chairs.

They need more than just control of both houses. They'd need a two-thirds majority in the Senate to remove him. No one imagines that big a swing in the senate. He might well get impeached and still remain sitting in his comfy leather chair.

He will then, however, be utterly ineffectual as a president.

If they impeach Trump and Pence, isn't there another Republican next in line ? Maybe Ryan ?
