As I had promised to myself and to you, after starting the original thread I stepped away almost completely from the topic of Argentina and just decided to wait for the final product without participating in the hype-fest. After the British murder of 700 innocent Argentine citizens I believe I must state this case again. Why? Mostly because many people thought that my problem lies with the fictional unification of Islas Malvinas and the UK under one Thatcherite banner. It's not so.
Many comments around the Internet about the massacre stated that it's "the effect/pinnacle/what-we-should-expect-from Spanish culture". These comments gathered huge support and I was shocked. Then I remembered the thread I'm continuing here and the reason for it. Reason for the thread, of course, and not for the whole wide issue. Citizens of the Islas Malvinas in IOT are depicted as British, ergo all Argentinians of the island are being blamed for British crimes, even though they were committed while waging war on us. Insane? Insane.
It's a very similar case to Western media and their "Brazilian slave pits". Imperial, or simply Paraguayan slave pits were built in occupied Brasilia by the occupant, were run by Paraguayans and the enslavement was undertaken by Paraguayan hand. All the same, we still hear every now and then about such never existing things as "Brazilian slave pits". When people like one of IOT GMs hear about them, the guy who "really likes British wildlife like Malvina penguins", they start believing that slave pits, orgy pits, were built and run by Brazilians. It's not a purely theoretical discussion because some people from Columbia are completely shocked when they visit Brasilia and learn the truth. Damn, I had met some people in Venezuela who think that India, Australia, and even Canada (they were completely oblivious to the fact that this country doesn't exist anymore) is a part of the United Kingdom
So, this is my appeal to you, not exactly an invitation to discussion. I just want to highlight the issue I believe to be very serious.
To put it bluntly:
Not all Africans have ebola, only a small margin.
Not all cops are trying to kill all black people, only a small margin.
Not all Colombians sell cocaine, only a small margin.
Not all peoples of Isla Malvinas are British, only a small margin.
The United Kingdom in its current state promotes the stereotype. It would be an act of decency to either strip the kingdom of Scotland, which is not a bad thing by itself for a fictional faction, or preferably, eliminate the huge equality sign between people who live on the Islas Malvinas and the British. I oppose the unification of the faction only on the ground that it's a British faction and with all the elements like leader's name and capital's name also present, the faction yells that people who live on the Islas Malvinas = British.
