I just happened to be perusing the stories and tales forum and came across a bunch of people talking about "Dot Maps". Now, it did explain what they're for (which was obvious) and how they work, but it didn't say HOW to make one.

It appears as if you can place these city placement planning dots on your map in game! It looked great. What a helpful tool that would be to planning your strategy.

Now, to anyone who knows:

HOW do you make a dot map?

Thanks for your help.

It's not too hard if you have a Windows PC.

On your keyboard there should be a "Prt Scr Sys Req" button, or something like that. Simply make sure your screen shows the area you want, press this button. Load up Paint (or any other imaging application) and paste, the image should show up. Now use the "Spraycan" tool in Paint to make different dots on the map, or do anything else you want. Save the file as whatever.gif or whatever.jpg, then simply enter the file into the slot below the posting screen. Voila.

As to loading your dots in-game, I don't know anything. I do know ingame you can press the Windows key, go to Documents, load up your Paint, close it when you've memorized the part you need, and your game will be there ready for you.

Oh, I see, so most people on this board are just doing it to post their thoughts on the forums concerning city placement.

I don't know that I'd want to go through the whole trouble of making my own dot map in paint just so I can have a reference for game play. I thought people were doing this in-game.

I just turn the grid on and plan accordingly. I'm not into perfection. I don't think it's necessary, especially if it detracts from having fun.

Just my 2 cents. ;)
