I think we have found each on his own way that the sweet spot is about 9-10 cities at turn 100 (350 BC)

So, you had those 200 hammers invested in settlers, but you were not settling them because it would be not a good idea? In the same time, the Pyramids were doing their job brilliantly - 14 beakers per library with 2 specialists and +3 happy faces in each of our 5 biggest cities. Plus some nice GE GPP accumulated for free.

Here I see as a limiting factor for our expansion Currency date and not those 200 hammers which we will spend on 2 settlers or on the Pyramids.

I took Jovan's advices to heart regarding not whipping so heavily and I might try playing till t100 exactly this way - just getting the Pyramids and not investing so heavily in libraries and army ( I whipped like 3 libraries in my test game and have set 5-6 citizens working in them - this could well make up for those 20 hammers I am missing on the comparison, but we will still have the mighty Pyramids to use when we want.)

We have said enough about The Pyramids I guess. I will make last test game tonight and will post results. Then I guess it is time the team to decide with voting. If I managed to present the Pyramids case well, they will win the vote, if it is only me seeing (or maybe blinded by) their appeal, then the team will vote against them, but at least my conscience and hands sill be clear. :)

well if you will promise me we get them if we go them...you have my vote too :).

I think the save I provided was much weaker then the Yossarian's and was done with almost no whips (the mine save). I think Yoss showed very good save for no-Mids case and I think it should be refered to his then the last mine.

:) Heh, I cant promise such thing. Just as my staff major said me once while stabbing me with his crystal blue eyes: "Nothing is for sure and for granted except death and the sunrise, corporal."

But this was of the good ones, other things he said to me was: "For a mother it is better to have a whоre daughter, than a corporal son!" and "Stop the infantrymen for a while, so the tanks get some rest" :D

So Pyramids did not get much votes. What about The Great Wall then? It seemed to be dismissed very quickly - what are the exact reasons?

It seems to have many advantages going for it:

    1. As 2metra pointed out, with stone it is quite cheap - around 2 axes. if I remember correctly?
    2. One of the argument against building Mids was it detracts our attention from deference - with barbarians on, TGW is very strong defensive mechanism, with a lot additional benefits
    3. As with Mids, if we do not get it, we will get fail gold at at least 2 gold per hammer conversion, likely more with OR
    4. EE seems to be great strategy for MP - I never played one, but it seems that a good strategy would be to build strong position without being perceived as too strong, to avoid other teams uniting against us? If that is our general approach EE fits very well - espionage superiority is much easier to hide than military one. And as somebody mentioned, RB is assuming we are spying left and right anyway, so no reason to disappoint them ;-)

:) TGW was just a sweetener combined with the Pyramids. If team dont want to plant a single city in attempt to get The Pyramids, I dont want to even try the opinion of planting the same city for TGW to save myself one more disappointment :(

How about using a better location that can still easily hook up the stone? If we put the Stone city either 1 S of the rice or 1 S of the desert hill, we'll have a nice a nice city in our hands. 1 S of rice would also give us easy acces to horses as well, BTW. If we can bring in a Rabbi as well, we'll have the Stone within our borders in no time at all. When we do, we can revisit the issue of using the stone for wonders. The city would be justified even if we do not. A minor down side is that to get full benefit from the wine, we'd need to have the Monarchy anyway.

Now when we wont go Pyramids or TGW, there is one clear best location for a stone city, but this will be like city number 12 or 15 or whatever.

Sommers said early on TGW seem feasible even without stone city. I am not saying that what I would do - I would just go for a stone city, like you :D - but perhaps that would be more palatable for the team. BTW, it seems that we do not have plans to get any wonder so far? Seems a bit extreme to me. I thought getting one would be nice and sort of a norm.
