Here is the GOTM for April. It's a small map King level game.

---------------
Civ2 GOTM#15 Parameters

King Level
Small Map
4 Civs
Mongols
Normal Land Mass
Varied Land Form
Wet Climate
Temperate Temperature
3 Billion Years Old
Start with Bronze Working
----------------

btw, if Duke of Marlbrough has Civ2 Classic, I'll let him create the future Civ2 GOTM save games. I am too lazy. :crazyeye:

I don't have classic. :( I have CivNet laying around somewhere, does that count? :)

I can always try to find a copy. :scan:

Off to e-bay! If anyone else knows of someplace that might have it, please let me know.

Edit: I think my old copy might still be around somewhere. I'll try digging through some boxes.

Actually the last GOTM, GOTM #14 was on King level, too.
So this one should be on another level.
Well, anyway ...
:D

Okay, you guys are intent on destroying my life, aren't you  I had fully intended to bow out of GOTMs after this month because I as so busy right now, but another King level small map, this one with some decent terrain, is just too enticing. Finish up #14 today and start on this one soon. My life is over :(

Oops! My bad. :o All I remember was some people complained I made the game Deity. :)

In case you have FW or CiC the original executable is still in place, except it's called Civ2orig.exe... But I guess you have MGE... :scan:

Hmm, I still have classic.
I play the GOTM with FanWorld but the Civ2orig.exe is still there.
I could also install the original game again.
:D

Classic should be easy to find. Just recently I was looking for another copy of MGE because my copy got wrecked. I went to every retail and computer store I could find, and there was nothing but Civ3 and Civ2 Classic, but no MGE. Even Target and Wal-Mart had the Civ2 Classic, and they were only $10 at that. Should take a ten minute drive to find one in the U.S., if what I think Civ2 Classic is is.

P.S. I think you should either always do deity or have two separate GOTM's. I'm sick of getting a pet city by 1 A.D.

I also have seen Civ2 Classic for $10 recently, at a Target! There are instructions somewhere on this site to convert a Civ2 Classic to MP Gold.

I just got 4 copies of Civ2 MP Gold at eBay, no problem. They were a bit more than $10 each. But at eBay, you apparently need to plan to choose auctions such that you can be online as the auction is ending. Not always, but usually.

Given the lesson last time (speed makes an incredable difference) Are there fine points regarding an OCC conquest attempt? Does one have to wait for a potential city to fill with defenders so a conquerer can ground it to paste or may one take the city & then dismantle it?:shotgun:

A single city will not disband. It will continue to spit settlers. They do require support.

Conquest by hut units is fairly easy on a small map with no ais on islands. But I found out in 15 it can be a big flop if you get a capitol from a hut...like I did.

Is there anyone here who didn't use hut units? I did too, and I'm just wondering because I think the GOTM's should be large maps, or at least more often. Same goes for difficulty; hut-unit conquest is hard if not impossible on deity, so deity GOTM's would be cool.

I agree it is much, much harder on deity....but we need to keep it playable for all..especially newer players or just those that havn't dedicated(wasted:D) countless hours on the game.
Smaller maps are in cuz lots just don't have the time for larger maps.

one thing we could do is have more civs.Always 7 but I think a variety is best. That type of game isn't going to happen too often.I tryed it again in 15 and it did not work.

I wanted to see what score the game would give without any cities!..I was kinda disappointed when Beijing(iirc) grew on me just before I attacked

ps...although huts are a part of the game(exploration)I wouldn't have any objections to a no huts game for a change.

Yeah, a no huts game would solve the problem too. Still about deity, though I don't know. On the other #15 thread I suggested there were two GOTM's, a king and a deity. I guess they probably won't consider it though since it's double the amount of administration to handle the game and the results.

exactly.

There are lots of players that don't play deity for one reason or another..and we are still getting new players to civ2.Deity can seem impossible at that point.I know it was for me.You gotta walk before you run type thing.

aw, crap.

My first deity GotM was a succes.......at least for the civ2-player I was then. I thought about not playing at the time, but decided I had to start with deity one day anyway. I played the game, survived and even killed the English (the player was the Chinese I think).....but this was my third GotM I think, and I played a lot since I discovered CFC......new players won't play I think. The Deity game made me the surviving-specialist around here though (around here = of the people I know)
