The first Dragon Warrior is one of the most memorable games I have ever played next to Final Fantasy I and II. It is as vanillacube said..."it just would never get boring."

Yes I remember it was fun but by the time I got this game, which is like 8 years from now, I had much more difficulties speaking and reading english, and all the text was in OLD english!!!
I had a hard time making my way through, I gotta say.

Well Hiero, it was amoung my all-time favs for NES! Three was just as good as four. I didn't like it that you could only control one guy in combat in chapter five of DW4. For 8-bit graphics, it looked way cool.

i dont have trouble with it i know what to use to get other players do what i want. what the hero does can effect the moves of the others. i usuually no mp if i dont want magic to be used they way the use items in battle. the sage stone is really great for healing. in one game i maxed all charaters to level 99.

This is definetly one of my favorite game series, right up there with Zelda and Civ. I only owned the first one when I had my NES but the lasting impression it left made me look for it when I finally got internet and led me to ROM's which I then went to school and got all my friends hooked on. They have re-released 1&2 on one cart for Game Boy and DW 3 is coming out for Game Boy Color this June I believe and Enix finally announced Dragon Warrior 7 for the US PSX. www.enix.com

When did 3 & 4 come out? Must have missed those. But I liked the 2nd one alot. But trying to get the 3rd character was a pain. I somewhat remember the first game. Wasnt 24th level the max? That was cool too. Anyone remember Golden Axe?

In the US, #3 came out in 91 and #4 came out in 92, according to the boxes, which I still have.

    Ahhh, this brings back memories.

Okay, not really, I only played this two years ago using Nesticle and a very nice save option. Still, loved killing those metal slimes, one lucky hit brought all my guys and gals to advance.

After the ending, when you are flown out of the netherworld, I felt as though an incredible weight has been lifted.

  16. anyone know if the 1+2 vers. for game boy is any good? will more be coming out for advance? should i get it? when is advance coming out? etc.

If you have gameboy color I highly recommend getting DW1&2. Its been "balanced" (meaning monsters give more gold/exp. for faster levels) so there isn't as much hack and slash. They also helped out the story some. Unfortunatley, IMHO anyway, the retranslated closer to the Japanese names i.e. Erdrick=Loto Gwaelin=Laura etc. But it is still worth the $30. GBA comes out June 11th (in America) and Dragon Warrior 3 comes out for GBC July 17th (also in America). No word on DW 4-6 yet though GBA would be a perfect place for them. DW7 sometime this fall I believe
