I had the most akward dream involving civ last night... I had a dream that Civ 5 came out, and of coarse, I bought it on instinct without even taking a look at it. After buying it, I went to my home and looked at the box... The minimum requirments said at least 6.something GHz... So of coarse, I didn't even try playing it... Yes stupid I know...

Has anyone else had a dream about civ?

I think this belongs in the "1000 Clues You Play Civ IV Too Much " thread

No, I haven't had a dream about civ. But you do need to put this in 1000 Clues You Play Civ4 Too Much

I had a dream about colonization last week and i aint played it in years :(

I had a dream about a giant snake wearing a vest that was rolling a doughnut... If you know what thats from you win!

...sounds interesting.

I think we should keep the dream thread separate from 1000 things...there must be people who dream about Civ properly, because theoretically your dreams are supposed to be what is in your subconscious and often prefigure what is going to happen later on in real life.

I do have dreams about Justinian coming at me with his "knights that say Ni!" (Michael's phrase when he sees me messing about with cataphracts) and other hazy ideas about playing Civ for real, but they seem to have stopped now that I am back in a voluntary internship and not just pretending to do political research that really hasn't led anywhere since 2005. I think it might have been the combination of (a) late night Civ-playing (b) cheese sandwiches/pizza while doing so and (c) predicting Justinian's appearance on the map with 100% accuracy one too many times (and NO I WASN'T playing him at the time, I hardly ever play him though Michael likes him because of the cataphracts). Many of the Civ dreams are coherently logical - playing the game on a giant, person-sized map, doing strange things like introducing elements from other games (e.g. Lemmings, for God's sake, which I haven't played in ages!) or ... well, I know I've had a few but I'm trying hard to explain them and I can't. So perhaps I am acting out my own life in Civ terms to make sense of it, just like when I was trying to fit my research together before meeting some of the people in the know about eighteen months ago I often dreamt of standing up in Parliament and debating with friends I hadn't seen in years or exploring the ruins of wartime Eastern Europe and turning up people from the present - even including some pretty famous faces, to a Briton at least - to discuss things with them and then meeting them in real life and finding out that perhaps they were having similar dreams to me. Your dreams are important and therefore if you find yourself acting things out in Civ then it bears closer examination and thought as to what it means.

Blackrabbit...not sure what your dream would mean to you but I would consult Freud on the snake and the doughnut if I were you ;).

Well googling black rabbits dream gets you an answer.

As for dreaming about knights that say Ni!!! Perhaps the knight had come to bring justice to all those poor lemmings that died at your hands. Least the lemming didnt go Oh Ni before they died!!

The cult of the Oh Ni Lemmings. Now theres a gaming faction for you.

If you start dreaming about this you are really in trouble. Remember its okay to dream about death as long as you dont die in the dream. Apparently the rtrauma can cause heart attacks.

Sweet dreams all!!!

I used to have dreams about world of warcraft. Also, one time I saw a big black bird and the first thing I thought was "Oh, . .. .. .. . a druid!"

I have. Once (before BTS as released) I had a dream that I saw Sid Meir at my school, and he gave me a copy of BTS to play, and so I put it in my locker.

Since I first played Civilization back in '92, I dream a few times a year about discovering new land masses (mostly in Civ I graphic style). I guess that's one of the things (discovering, not dreaming) that made me love this game.

One time late at night I started a new game, explored a bit, then turned off the computer and went to sleep. That night, I dreamed that I finished researching Bronze Working which revealed copper in the desert far north of my capital.

Next morning, I finished researching Bronze Working, and revealed copper in the desert far north of my capital -- in almost exactly the same square, no less.

I don't think it's that fantastic, really -- by then I'd played enough games to know that's where copper usually shows up, in the desert with no other useful resources nearby (grr!)

In the course of a typical night I do not have Civ dreams. But on those fairly rare occasions when I "one more turn" it till 4 am and then go to sleep, it's not a question of if I'll have them. It's just a question of how many and whether or not they'll be vivid enough to wake me up.

Such dreams usually involve me wanting to get to a certain point that I can see, but not having enough movement to do it. Or seeing the world in gridlines, or seeing a resource and wanting to mine/farm it.

Lenard Nimoy haunts my dreams with his distinguished, velvety voice.

Who's Lenard Nimoy?

Sometime's when i get off civ and go straight to bed, i can't sleep because every time i try to relax, i can't stop thinking about my game.

Who's Lenard Nimoy?

Leonard Nimoy: Spock from Star Trek, Paris from Mission Impossible, Director of Three Men and a Baby, and the "narrator" for Civ IV.

That's it; I'm officially old. :(

Thanks!! I've never seen any of those shows.
That's it; i'm officially young!!:lol::crazyeye::lol:

I only dream about Catherine. <3
