Dumb and Stupid Quotes Thread: Idiotic Source and Context are Key.

I assume that Senator Graham meant that speaking to Iran and signing deals with them causes the Earth to explode like the Deathstar, so outwards from the planet's core?

That's for a rather pedantic reading of "blow", though. (Never mind. I'm trying too hard to make something of this. It's not worth it. And I'm doing a poor job.)

True. If Graham was referring to an exotic collection of blow-up dolls, then we should all be even more disturbed than we are already.

His dire warning was enough to scare off the alien space armada that was going to blow us up. They have permanent retreated back through subspace and are now investigating who the leak was. You people should be thanking Lindsey Graham for saving all of us. I know I am.

(Is it Lindsay or Lindsey?)

It's spelled with an 'e' according to wiki, so that's what I've been going with for our southern belle senator.

"If the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it."

Mike Huckabee

That is not stupid or dumb.
Mike Huckabee is underneath it all saying he thinks women have libidos that need controlling.

But on the surface it's silly because democrats are doing no such thing. And women, the people who get to decide if they're actually being insulted, are feeling or thinking no such thing either.

He might as well have said "If the Democrats want to insult Gragnar, Lord Space King of the 9 Star Liches by offering the firstborn of every white Baptist American family to his arch rival King Moon Snake and thinks they can get away with it, so be it"

Fight the power, Huck. You got this.

"The company used such an iconic song, one often sung in churches on the 4th of July that represents the old 'E Pluribus Unum' view of how American society is integrated, to push multiculturalism down our throats."

Breitbart's Michael Leahy, denouncing Coca-Cola's Super Bowl ad in which Americans sang "America the Beautiful" in their native languages

Well he said that with regards to the issue of sex, not of health, which is why the majority of women use contraceptives.

I think a little bird once told me it takes two to make a baby.

"The Bible...makes it plain that dinosaurs and people must have lived together...If the Bible's right (and it is!), dinosaurs must have lived within the past thousands of years."
-- creationist Ken Ham

You can't fault the logic, though. Given the premise (and the implicit one that dinosaurs did in fact live, and leave their bones behind. Alternatively, God could have scattered dinosaur bones about, just for reasons.), the conclusion does follow naturally.

No, the logic doesn't work at all. Because many types of animals are named in the bible. But not any dinosaur. And the best known dinosaurs were large, and therefor prominent. Not mentioning a single one of them tells you that the writers of the bible never saw one. So you cannot assume that they existed at the time.

Look. I expect there's a perfectly logical reason for that. Probably something to do with dragons, or whatnot. The word dinosaur wasn't adopted into the English language (and there's every reason to think that God, or at least certainly Jesus, spoke and wrote in fluent English) until 1789. Or was it 1837? Some made-up date, anyway.

stop talking about invented dates, we have enough foreveralones on this message board already

"It's an absolute infringement on people's beliefs. What's being taught is just as much faith and, you know, just as much pulled out of the air as, say, any religion."

Bertrand Russell.

"The Founding Fathers...put certain restrictions on who gets the right to vote. It wasn't you were just a citizen and got to vote...One of those was you had to be a property owner. And that makes a lot of sense, because if you're a property owner you actually have a vested stake in the community."
-- Tea Party Nation president Judson Phillips

"The Tom Perkins system is: You don't get to vote unless you pay a dollar of taxes... But what I really think is, it should be like a corporation. You pay a million dollars, you get a million votes."
-- Silicon Valley entrepreneur Tom Perkins
