Dumb idea for a game mode

Suppose you like the Maya's abilities, but you think Lady Six Sky's ability is restrictive and annoying. Or maybe you think the Prasat's bonus is fun to play around with, but wish the rest of the Khmer's bonuses weren't so terrible.

What if no abilities were tied together? You could independently select a civilization's civ bonus, leader bonus, unique unit, and unique ability. I call this mode Ability Mixer.

The way this would probably work if implemented:
  • LUUs would still be tied to their respective leaders. For instance, anyone could pick the Hypaspist, but the Hetairoi is a package deal with Alexander.
  • Since Three Kingdoms relies totally on the Seowon, they would also be a package deal.
  • For the AI, you can choose whether they also operate this way or are just vanilla civs.
What would be some strong combos in this mode?

1: Bull Moose Teddy+Australia+Mountie+Marae
2: Wilfred Laurier+Russia+Highlander+Ice Hockey Rink

I will add more that I can think of later.

To me anyway, this is a fantastic idea that I've always wanted- it could both lead to even more insane civs and laughably bad ones. I badly want this in the game.

But, there's one issue: Alexander leading Gran Columbia + the Immortal and the Ikanda :shifty:

Oh no... Better yet:

3: Genghis Khan+Gran Colombia+Winged Hussar+Hippodrome

I heard you like Great People Pedro. :p
Kristina + Kongo + Lavra + Garde Imperial or Hetairoi (Both get GG points from kills) :crazyeye:

I tried to come up with the WORST possible combination, and I settled on the truly dreadful Mvemba + Byzantium/Arabia + Highlander + Stave Church. Mvemba's kind of carrying the "bad" factor, though. Cyrus + Canada + Highlander + Tlachtli I feel to be cheating for the same reason.

If I had to go without a bonus that directly negates the use of some other one, it'd be Robert + Khmer + Highlander + Chateau, to keep him unfocused. (It says a lot that Scotland shows up twice...)

*proceeds to spawn with no horses anywhere on your continent*
I just realized that the Hippodrome would give you Winged Hussars with no Resource Requirement, so, therefore, Horses aren't necessary!

"Sir, how do you expect us to train our cavalry? We have no horses."

"Just build circuses and hope something happens."

Jadwiga + Kongo's Nkisi + Prasat + ...who cares about the UU at that point? :D

ETA: That's +2 Food, +2 Production, +2 Culture, +2 Faith, and +8 Gold per Relic--which one can easily obtain en masse with the Prasat. :shifty: Add Reliquaries for triple Faith and Tourism...

Just add in the Conquistador for more fun. :mischief:

I've thought they should put in an 'auction' system in the game for selecting civ's in a MP game. You could do the same for this game mode. In a auction you would get for example 100 'points' you use to bid to get game items. What ever points you have left over can be converted into yields.

Ambiorix + Zulu's Isibongo + Pitati Archer + Oppidum.

I don't know if this is any good, I'd like to hear thoughts about this. :P

Just thought of this for the amazing yields.
Bull Moose Teddy+ Land Down Under + Marae +Mountie
