Found a cheap copy of Vista Home Premium so I nagged mom until she cracked and bought it. :p ($20 at a yard sale, but it's obviously brand-new, as it hasn't been opened.)

So now I have it. But ... How do you open the box? :crazyeye:

But you can't use it until you open it...?

And I'd like to do a fresh install of Windows sometime this week.

Well anyways, I did manage to open it without breaking the case, so yay for me.

Dont you already have Vista? Why the hell did you buy a second copy?

If you cant open the box, then I really dont think you should be allowed anywhere near an internet connection. Or real life. Or oxygen.

I didn't have a recovery disc or partition, so there would be no way to reinstall. I think I explained it before.

And the box... it's unusual for a software box. And why else would there be a help page about it?. From Microsoft, too.

Also, if you google it, I'm not the only one having problems! :D

I think the box has better security than the OS!!

I think Ive also explained before that you can pull the serial key off the OS and use a downloaded copy of Vista to install. Its a grey area in terms of legality, but imho, as long as you only use the serial you were provided, its fine.

Bad things from warez. Wanna think of what I found on mom's computer after she downloaded and installed a pirated game? That was one of the cases where she didn't call me into help her remove it. (She wasn't at home when I stumbled upon it.)

Thats why you dont do stupid things with warez. Including, but not limited to: downloading from random sites, not using an antivirus to check before installing, not thoroughly checking the downloaded files.

Sure, if you dl something off limewire without paying any attention, its gonna bite you in the arse.

The problem with warez is often PEBKAC

You're asking us how to open a box.
