This is a thread for all the currently irrelevant political non news that folks want to post. It is the place for things like:

• Obama lied or is Muslim or a Kenyan, etc.
• Hillary lied, murdered state department staff in Libya, spied on Trump, etc.
• Comey lied and was in league with the Dems
• WMDs in Iraq, etc.
• Cheney endorsed torture
• US government staged a coup in Ukraine in 2014
• Biden's son was in league with whomever
• CIA, antifa, or Dems staged Jan 6 insurrection
• Rittenhouse (anything)
• There are too many others to list all of the potential topics

The veracity, or not, of of these topics is not the point. They are tiresome. They are old news and old discussions. These stories and their ilk are likely not relevant today so please keep them out of other threads unless there is something brand new reported by a reputable source; not some random blogger or Qanon twitter user.

If you post this kind of material in other threads, staff has the option of moving here or just deleting it. If this dumpster fire thread doesn't suit you, then you can always start a brand new thread on your topic and renew the topic.

Our goal is to reduce the useless crap in the ongoing discussions. Thank you for your effort.

It's a coup, yet Ukraine had two elections since Maidan, and both times elected pro-Western governments. Hmmm? Must be some kind of... WESTERN CONSPIRACY!

I dont expect the people backing coups to follow them up with fair and open elections nor do I see how a coup is legitimized if the leader opposes the majority on an issue. I saw Zelensky gave Joe Biden a present for winning vs Trump:

But this much I do know, the USA dangled NATO membership in Ukraine and promoted the war in the Donbass to keep the pressure on Putin and thats why we can now add Ukraine to the list of wrecked countries left in the wake of the USS Brandon.

I'm guessing you will dismiss them as being western biased, but freedom house did give Zelenskys election 4 out of 4 for being free and fair elections.

And indeed the legislative and other elections were less than free and fair because of the de-facto Russian controlled regions not participating.

Notably on the "western bias" think they've correctly given the US presidential election and electoral laws less than full marks on free and fair elections, recognising that it isn't like most other western countries in this regard.

Have you been reading the Ukraine-Russia war thread? Nothing is drowning out 'the real talk', its already approaching 200 pages. Moderating is censoring, that is the point of moderating - to permit or disallow. The problem with censorship is it can be a political, tribal weapon and its no coincidence both sides in the war are censoring dissent.

You seem familiar with qanon, have they taken a position on the '14 coup in Ukraine? I'd be curious what they think, its a conspiracy at the highest levels but carried out by Nazis on the ground. They do like Nazis and hate Russia, right? Ah strange bedfellows indeed. Arming and training Ukrainian Nazis to kill ethnic Russians was our bipartisan policy for 8 years before Putin invaded. Cause and effect matter.

how many modern political debates have you watched lol

candidates struggle to even answer the questions they get, or more accurately, they deliberately don't answer them and instead talk about whatever they want

or to put it in forum terms, they intentionally and routinely go off-topic, sometimes immediately

that's hot how debates should work though, granted

broadly speaking, moderating is censorship with rules everyone agreed upon going in. at least, in principle that's what it's supposed to do. whether moderators actually act that way or utilize consistent standards in any capacity varies wildly between debates. though in political debates, i rarely see them hold people to rules consistently or keep discussion on the topics at hand, so i do not respect them similarly to how i don't respect the candidates

if you don't have internally consistent standards, then whatever you think you have those aren't standards.

That was the message Wednesday from Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet after a phone call between him and European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton was leaked.

In the recording, which was posted to YouTube and picked up by Russian media, Paet talks about his recent visit to Ukraine. He says a doctor named “Olga” told him opponents of Ukraine’s ousted President may have been responsible for deadly sniper fire.

President Viktor Yanukovych fled more than a week ago in the wake of protests in Kiev’s Independence Square, where snipers from nearby rooftops killed scores of people.
“(Olga) can say that it is the same handwriting, the same type of bullets, and it’s really disturbing that now the new coalition that – they don’t want to investigate what exactly happened. There is now stronger and stronger understanding that behind snipers, it was not Yanukovych, but it was somebody from the new coalition,” Paet told Ashton.

Musiy, who spent more than two months organizing medical units on Maidan, said that on Feb. 20 roughly 40 civilians and protesters were brought with fatal bullet wounds to the makeshift hospital set up near the square. But he said medics also treated three police officers whose wounds were identical.

Forensic evidence, in particular the similarity of the bullet wounds, led him and others to conclude that snipers were targeting both sides of the standoff at Maidan — and that the shootings were intended to generate a wave of revulsion so strong that it would topple Yanukovych and also justify a Russian invasion.

That theory gained currency a day later when a recording of a Feb. 26 private phone call between Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet and European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton was leaked and broadcast by the Russian government-controlled TV network, Russia Today. In the call, Paet said he had heard from protesters during a visit to Kiev that opponents of Yanukovych were behind the sniper attacks.

Paet said another physician who treated victims, Dr. Olha Bogomolets, told him that both police and protesters were killed by the same bullets — and "there is now stronger and stronger understanding that behind snipers it was not Yanukovych, but it was somebody from the new (government) coalition."

So... on Jan 6 no cops were shot and thats a coup
and... 189 cops are shot at Maidan and thats not a coup

Now the Nazis controlled terrain from which snipers were firing but the snipers might have been specialists employed by this "somebody from the new coalition".
