Dunkirk....well, they did have some help of one of the best airforces in the world.

We are also talking about a desperate escape. The BEF was hardly in the state of combat at that point, leaving most of their heavy weapons and vehicles behind.

In civ, I use Dunkirk the other way around, invading using fishingboats, that somehow transport my tanks...suppose they are blowup or something for easy storage...

True, but as you may recall, it was Hitler's procrastination that allowed so much of the BEF to escape Dunkirk to fight another day. The Wehrmacht was all set to deliver the coup de grace when Hitler ordered that they halt their advance because he was concerned about his flanks. In addition, Goring assured Hitler that the Luftwaffe could crush the BEF on the beaches of Dunkirk without any help from the Panzers. It was the first in a long line of mistakes that the "little corporal" and his bloated compatriot would make in the war.
