I have at home a laptop and a desktop, both of which are similar specced (the computer is slightly higher, extra 1GB of RAM and slightly better graphics). However the Sims 2, Sims 1 Making Magic, Simcity 4 (unless Rush Hour is installed) and a few other EA games don't work on my computer.
When one of these games is run on my computer, there is severe graphical corruption and whenever they have to load a new object for the first time it freezes for about 5 minutes.
When I contacted them a few years ago, they didn't know what the problem was. All these games work on my laptop even though it is below the specs for the Sims 2.
I am wondering since Spore's specs are about the same as the Sims 2 will they work on my computer, it exceeds all the specifications but whatever causes the issues in the other games might still be in Spore and especially with the 3 installations only limit on Spore, I don't want to waste one trying if it has no chance of working.
Note: The only other game to have the same problems not made by EA was Rome:Total War's Alexander expansion.
It is definitly not a component issue as the same computer runs Supreme Commander on Low Graphics setting, Civ IV Complete on the highest settings and Medieval 2:Total War on the medium settings without any problems
