heres the situation: (deity, large map, restless tribes, 2000bc) ive got a few units near the japs who i signed with. then i brake the treaty and almost take their cap city. a bit later, we sign again and i get 2 exchanges. then i break treaty again and kill their cap and im about to kill their last city.
question:
is it worth it to kill a civ early and lose rep or should i become good friends with them and try and exchange more?

You have already lost Reputation - killing them off will not damage it much more. Japs are Green, fairly Aggressive and Militaristic: kill them off if you have the chance.

Build the Eiffel Tower, otherwise the remaining civs will all attack you seperately or worse, start signing secret alliances against you.

I thought they did that when the powergraph is maxed out for your civ? Good or bad reputation...

They do! As you become bigger and more powerful, the AIs will always gang up on you (expecially in MGE). Your only real choice is to smash them before they try to smash you. :p

I do not start my imperialist streak until the 18th century. By then, I have the resources for a long drawn out war on a long front.

Another variable in the equation -- is civ restart on? If you wipe out a civ and the restart is one, another green civ will appear elsewhere with an average amount of techs (which could be good or bad). Also to consider -- if the Japs are in a corner or in your way. In a corner, you can play with them (like a cat & mouse) -- in your way & they become candidates for roadkill.
