So this is as abusive as it gets.
Start a game with Greeks. I recommend Pangaea, continents is fine. I play on Marathon, which is best for warmongering, but any speed is fine (quick might screw you over though).
The start doesn't matter so much, but don't intentionally play some trash start Start ruin hunting. Optimally you'll get an upgrade to hoplite (There's a pretty high chance this happens). Either way, start looking for a computer. IF YOU SEE A SCOUTING UNIT, figure out a path he came from (just use common sense, more often than not you're right). Best luck and you'll run see their settler being escorted by a warrior. Before declaring war on him, offer the computer all your gold/turn for a lump sum. Declaring brings back your gpt. Go and steal his settler, and take your worker back (if you're on marathon, you get a worker at turn ~5-7, instead of 49 turns in lol).
This is all gravy, but here's the basic idea:
If playing on marathon, by turn 30 or so, you'll have met 4-5 computers (deity scouts you FAST). You'll also have the ability to produce 6-8 gpt if you allocate citizens appropriately (just put everyone on gold resources). So what you do is the following.
Talk to computer 1, offer him 6 (or whatever) gpt/turn for 90 turns (on marathon). He'll offer you APPROXIMATELY ~300-400 gold (basically his entire pile, which is a LOT on deity). Make the trade. Now after 90 turns, the COMPUTER has an advantage, since he'll make ~540 off you, and you only made 300 or whatever off him.
But instead of waiting for that BS, you declare war on him right away. He's in no position to attack you, and he won't (he'll always peace you first!). So you're up 300 gold. Do same to computer 2, 3, 4 etc. You can be up to 2000 gold at this point
Now you're at war with the world, but that's fine. Camp your hoplite on some foresthill near a river, and watch enemy warriors attack it for 0-1 damage for no reason. Most computers won't ever attack you, and will simply sue for peace (many might even OFFER YOU GOLD for peace).
So what to do with that 2k? You're greek, and you've scouted a bunch (remember, it's marathon, you've researched MAYBE 1 tech, and your first unit isn't even out yet!). Of course, you buy 2 maritime (or 1 maritime 1 culture) city state to be your allies.
The fact that you have 2 allies, will force most computers to sue for peace immediately And you're greek, so the allies stay your allies for a LONG time. The best part is, of course, if you got 2 maritime allies right off the bat (or even 1 and 1), is that your capital will grow crazy fast. The computers will all peace you after a couple turns, and will continue to amass gold. 20-30 turns later, you pull the same stunt again.
In this way, you can milk the entire game for gold, while literally bribing every city state in existence on your side. Because your 'power' rating is so high, computers will very quickly sue for peace. Your goal is to rush companions, but with infinite gold and food, this is not difficult
Since it's marathon, the computer won't even get to build spearmen (they've never built more than 2-3 against me on deity) before you wipe them out. You can realistically end the game by 1500 BC, probably earlier on a standard map, while completely controlling the city states (many of your first buys will STILL be active at this time, which is also hilarious).
This basic idea can work with any race, but it's best with greeks since the city states stay your allies forever. It's also best on marathon since the 'initial' buy is always 1000, so marathon buys are just 4-5x more effective (possibly more) than any other speed.
Warning: this REALLY trivializes Deity for Greeks on Marathon. It's a total joke; the computers will beat themselves up trying to fight your alliance of city states (kinda cool historically) and your companions will wreck their gold-less economies.
*Hilariously, this makes Deity EASIER than lower difficulties, as the computer generates more gold on Deity, and you're taking ALL of it for yourself. And I'm sure you know how to use gold better than that silly AI!*
Have fun!
