I recently moved from Noble to Prince, and I'm finding the early game quite confusing.
When I played Noble, I thought my early game was pretty good, usually settling 2 new cities, rarely a 3rd one, and then axe/charriot-rushing some neighbor.
On Prince, I tried basically the same, but economy became a problem. I'm not talking about maintenance, the difficulty appears before declaring war. It's not that bad too, but I think I'm not developing ok. My science slider stays around 70% and still I have a small deficit. Ok, I know about that 60% rule, but up to when should I accept it? Research seems to be sloooow...
After Bronze Working and Alphabet, I feel lost about what to research, and usually I neglect religion-related techs (well, excpet for Philosophy, but I'm talking about the early game). I think they require too much to work, given the fact that you must spread your state religion when your cities produce few hammers. And this brings another question: should I be concerned only about my rush and leave the infrastructure for later? By doing so, I can win the war faster, but with a worse economy and worse cities.
I'm trying to play a CE by the way (I like the idea of the SE, but CE has showed up much easier to me, with much better results). I think I should start working cottages as soon as my army is ready, right?
And well, not the main point, but I'm playing Brennus to try out Guerilla 3 Swords. Has anybody already tried this? Is it good?
