A rundown, rusty, cold and bug-ridden trailer on t
Only one direction and one animation done, but I figured it was worth a post. Giving the Samuri a lightsabre and new cloak is tedious... I have a newfound respect for the unit makers out there.

this could be the base for a Jedi/Sith units. (i'm still on reducing the workload here.)

and the lightsaber would not give out a shadow, as it produces light, it would Create shadows.
but we can let this one pass.

great unit.

Hey, I'm only going off the movies, in which lightsabres did create shadows. I know it doesn't make much since that they would but, well, there you have it.

Heh, looks really good. You should have an AttackA .flc to be him turning the lightsaber on :D I started a young jedi, but im not that good at unit creation, so i quit making it ;)

looks good. If I can make an observation, Jedi's have tight pants (everyone in the movies) usually they almost look like ragady old pants wrapped around the leg. In my opinion the pants shouldn't be so puffy like the samurai. Also, I feel the lightsaber should have a white middle, as they do in the movies, or at least its a much lighter version of the same color. Its a great unit though, good work.

Thanks for the comments. I think I'm starting to get the hang of this. Here's the south animation. And, personally, I like the Samuri-like puffy pants/robe. At least it's a lot easier than trying to turn them into pants. :D

I completly understand about that easier thing, its hard enough to to modify a few things with that many frames, let alone adding more to the burden. One other thing, is the light saber the civ specific color? I think that'd be a great way to decipher different nations (I doubt there will be many with a jedi knight though) imho.

I can't talk about easy, i've just replaced the bombs with photon torpedoes, by colouring them in blue. - 15 mins work for someone who has never used a computer paint program like that before.

i'm going to have another go, but the one i have is okay as a place holder.

Great work!

After watching the making of Episode I, I understand why lightsabres have a shadow -- during filming they are really metal tubes, with the "light" part being added in post-processing. So the tube leaves a shadow!

FWIW, I think they started doing a glow into character's faces in Return of the Jedi....

Cheers,
Shawn
