Hehe I hear you. In the end I think you have to be creative with the Earth map to get the most out of it. Neal's games always have a great twist, and are awesome! Also the Atlantis scenario that was posted a while ago was a really fun variation.

I wonder if a "king of the hill" type game (always war) could work on Earth18. Where would the hill be? Australia maybe if it was greened up a bit first.

Been trying to get a fast conquest victory playing Fred at noble/epic, unaltered map. First time I got conquest in 980ad running cuirassiers, second time round got conquest 570ad running knights. I'm now trying HAs and got to 50bc, I've captured europe, russia and half of persia, got astronomy in 100bc but I can't see me beating 570ad this time round.
Anyone have some ideas how to speed up victory?
