This is the V2 of my EarthBigEurope map made for vanilla BTS.
Although very similar, there's a lot of improvements to make it more like earth in a strategic sense.
Improvements over last map:
Africa represented much more faithfully
Antarctica added
Arabia peninsula added
Southeast Asia addedAustralia handsomized Turkey handsomized
Crimea peninsula added
Great Lakes, Lake Victoria, Lake Chad all added
So many islands, this comes with the Earth Islands DLC included for free, seriously so many more islands, there are now tiles that represent:
Newfoundland
Malta
Corsica
Djerba
Phillippines
Sulawesi
Falkland islands
Ascension island
Saint Helena island
Bouvetoya
Hainan and Taiwan
Fernando Po & Sao Tome
Canary Islands
Zanzibar & Pemba
Reunion & Mauritius
Diego Garcia
Maldives
Prince Edward Island
Socotra
Andaman Islands
Sardinia, Sicily, Majorca, Bermuda, Cyprus, Crete, Borneo, Papua New Guinea, the Caribbean and Hawaii were in the old map but it feels like they belong in the list. And there's even a fictional island west of Australia that survived from the last map that I'm calling East Jabib.
Compromises:
Arabian peninsula is now part of Mediterranean
Scandinavia got squished compared to the last map
Centra asia got vacuum sealed
Had to put the Phillipines in the Indian ocean
The Pacific ocean is really more of a suggestion
Scenarios
But wait there's more! In addition to the map (which is pretty much a scenario itself starting at 4000BC with predetermined civs and starting points) I've also uploaded two scenarios based on history where you can jump in at either 1300 AD or 1770 AD. Warning: You need to play the scenarios on Epic speed otherwise you will start in a different year due to how the turns are counted on the other game speeds.
Age of Crusades 1300 AD
This game starts just before the colonization rush, in the age of organized religion. The classical age is coming to an end, and the ancient borders have been set. Take control of your civ and lead the way into the late medieval period. Bring the renaissance into the world and conquer foes using superior technology. Build the foundation for an empire and race against everyone else to be the first to plant your flag all over the New world.
Scramble for Empire 1770 AD
In the brave new pre-industrial world, building your empire requires you to work fast and think on your feet. The European powers have staked their initial claims in Africa, but it remains to be seen who will take the lion's share, and many have antequated armies that need modernizing. Colonization of the New world has reached a tipping point where America has declared its independence and threatens the balance of power. Resource acquisition has never been so important, and the world is getting smaller every day. Will you come out on top in the race to industrialize?
