So im pretty new to the Dawn of Civilization mod and was wondering what civiliations yall thought were easiest to do UHV with. For the unmodded RFC i have won over half the civilizations and in DoC i have only won with Mayans and Byzantines so i was wondering what other civs are pretty easy to do.

I would say the French.

really cuz when i tried france it was really hard to get the 40% in europe w/out collapsing

Relatively easy UHVs include Japan, America, any of the colonizing Europeans, Prussia, Russia, the Tamils and Indonesia. The Khmer aren't bad, either, as long as you make sure you block the Thais from spawning.

Some weird lists there...

Easiest tier is:

Russia
Mayas
Korea
Egypt
Babylon
Portugal

To win as France isn't particularly hard if you master the meta gaming, but it involves some pretty intimate knowledge of stability mechanics, something which the above civs don't really need, except Russia a little bit.

what is meta gaming? this list seems like what i was expecting, only thing is babylon i think is near impossible on base game and ive only tried it once on DoC. Russia seems pretty easy but i dont have the patience to play them.

Babylon is much easier in DoC, thanks to your starting with extra techs, China's new capital, and India's late spawn. Just remember you need to switch to Pantheon to pick up most of the wonders.

Babylon, Korea, Maya, Byzantine Empire, England, Russia, Portugal, Netherlands, and Prussia are the ones I found easy. On Marathon speed, Rome gets relatively easy too. Prussia was my own first game, and it's quite a fun civ to play as if you like the industrial/modern era.

For me, Portugal and Babylon. I never played Korea or Maya but I expect them to be quite easy too.

I dislike the current set of Russian UHVs and have gone for Domination instead since their inception.

What does it mean for the netherlands when it says conquer european colonies?

What it says on the tin. Capture cities outside of Europe from other European civilizations. That includes cities conquered rather than founded by other European powers, like English/French cities in India or cities conquered from the Inca or Aztecs. The cities do have to be taken directly from the other European civilization--so, if Portugal settles Brazil and then collapses, you can't just capture the resulting independent cities in Brazil.

Generally speaking, you'll want to target the Portuguese as they (1) tend to have the most cities on other continents and (2) are usually the least threat to you, militarily, in Europe itself. That's historical, too, as the early Dutch colonial strategy was basically to follow Portuguese explorers and conquerors and attack and take the Portuguese settlements for themselves.

Egypt is rather easy. When you know the building order you can finnish UHV in every difficulty level. No need to fight or gamble at all.

England is easy (well, relatively easy) and fun.

Not sure just how easy the Tamils are.. I've never succeeded in their first UHV goal, despite the fact that I've won with some other civs that are said to be hard(er)..

just won a game as babylon. I built sphinx, hanging gardens, and oracle. i hard researched writing and monarchy and picked up code of laws with the oracle. largest city was easy, and for the culture i got really lucky and popped a great prophet with about 20% odds which i used for a great work that got the culture easy.

i just won as dutch and i have a question. what is up with the slaves? they always seem to disappear on me. do they only stay around for a number of turns or something?

Are you switching out from Forced Labor?

maybe thats it because as the netherlands i think you spawn without forced labor. that might be why the slaves will despawn
