Sorry guys for nooby question! But I was wondering first off how to win a cultural victory (maybe I'm stupid but it seems unclear). And what the best civ for a CV (multiplayer or single) and some tips to help a noob out!

I was thinking of Brazil but I feel I would want to win a diplomatic victory with them that way I can say "Vote for Pedro!"

France or Egypt would be good. You want the Wonders that have Artist, Musician and Writer slots. Globe, Uffizi, Broadway, Louvre and Eiffel.

You dont need all of them, one or two should do the trick. Then make sure you be-line your Hotels and Airports and national Tourist Center.

Have open borders and Diplomats in the AI capitals.

You must complete the Aesthetics tree.

Vote for Pedro is actually a lot more difficult since the patch. (You are likely to have a Carnival induced Cultural victory now.)

As to fastest cultural victory with BNW:
    1. Most of the time Tradition start
    2. Open both Aesthetics & Exploration while waiting for Rean era. (In both cases for the wonders)
    3. Start & complete Rationalism. You'll probably reach an ideology but only take free ones during this time. Pick either Freedom or Order.
    4. Reach the level 3 Idelogy and pick the cultural one for your tenent
    5. Complete the Aesthetics tree. (If you are playing France this will also get you their new achievement)

Science path starts normal (NC ASAP; a fairly early beeline to Education, etc. ...) Oxford built somewhat earlier for the theming bonus. Until around Modern era. At that point it's get the techs for both Hotels and Airports and then just straight beeline to Internet.

I find the best civs for CV are the ones that are the best for SV. Babylon, Korea, Inca, Aztec.
Any civ that can grow very tall, or has an innate boost to science is best. I prefer the Inca because he can grow seriously huge capitols, and has the hammers to get the wonders.

After that what joncnunn said. I would suggest trying to get 1 deep into Aesthetics for the 1/2 build time on culture buildings. I prefer Freedom, but the boost to tourism for broadcast towers can often be put off one because sometimes the timing of it means you take the tenant but have no towers.

Polynesia is an amazing civ who can do without world wonders  and the culture they get is such that even without working the guild specialists (which take up food) your culture does not suffer too much; but they are largely terrain-dependent; sometimes your Moai clump is ruined when a lux/strategic spawns in the wrong place... unless it's coal or uranium sometimes I just construct a Moai on it anyway. A clump of +4 and +5 culture moais are amazingly good.

    Go for Brazil

Just had a Culture Victory with them. Large Map, Earth, Emporer Diff, 10 civs 20 CS.

Brazil's "Carnival" is OP it;s like having The Internet Tech when a Golden Age pops. Make sure you get Chichen Iza (dodgy spelling) to make Carnival last longer. Only needed 3 Cities. Try get Uffizi, Cistine Chapel, and Broadway, Eiffel Tower is handy aswell. Fill the slots of these wonders then use your Artists to start golden ages. Send Musicians on concerts in Culture hogging civs. Fill Aestetics and go for Order Ideology. Order grants you 34% Tourism to Civs with less Happiness than you, and another 34% from an earlier Tenet.

I didnt need to use many Brazilwood camps probably had about 3. Didn't use the modern era special units either. Try and Ally Military CS to get free units for defending incase of any DoW.

Took me about 420ish turns to influence the last Civ, but was a nice feeling when it happened.

Ended the game with about 500 Tourism (with Internet) The Ottamans and Germany had like 2000 Science compared to my 800 so don't worry about Science to much. Having only 3 Cities made it handy to build National Wonders like the awesome Visitor Centre late on in the game. STOP the biggest Culture hog building The Great Firewall in the Computers Tech. I was lucky as Germany built it and they were already influenced.

Brazil can probably manage to get some of the culture wonders on King unless they start in an absolutely dismal spot. For some reason the AI is not very fond of Sistine Chapel. Broadway is also often avaible and it's quite easy and usefull to beeline for. Uffizi and Globe Theatre are more competed. Louvre also often goes really fast but sometimes it's avaible for a long time if there are not many naval civs.

Missing some of the Wonders may not be a game breaker because Brazilwood Camps can bring in huge amounts of culture and later on Tourism with Airports and Hotels.

Chain-bulbing Great Artists during International Games for the Carnival bonus on top of the International Games is one of my favorite moves with them.

They're also pretty nice for a bit more active aproach after you get Pracinhas since killing enemy units will contribute a bit to your Golden Ages. They're not amazing but a decent boost for Autocracy culture games. It's nice to get Cult of Personality and then jump into the lategame warmonger hate wars. Also good for finishing off cultural rivals.

If you miss most of the cultural wonders go wide as you can and build museums in every city and fill them with theming artifacts. Even playing as Egypt you can miss many wonders if your science isn't up to par(ie you're not the tech leader). You must grow your cities..........

winning culture peacefully is hard, actually. for me the best way to win culture is to plunder great works and wonders. works best if there are 2-3 civs that take aesthetics : they will make more great works to steal.
if they create the same amount of great works as you, stealing them would double your tourism output, right?

Broadway is bad for CV. It is either completely irrelevant because you have crazy fpt and can purchase GMs or a significant hinderance to your expected turn to victory by significantly crippling post internet GMs from guild points.

I agree. I used to build Broadway, stacking GM until its construction. Since I discovered Music bombs. More efficient.

To Immortal difficulty, Egypt is the easiest choice for me. France really hard in Immortal.

But, one month later, you're on Emperor now, Doctor Doom, isn't you ?

yup I just finished my first emperor game a few days ago! it was a pathetic turn T330 science victory as the Shoshone. but if I went down order I probably would of done better since I had 3 cities. :crazyeye: One thing I don't understand is "Theming bonus" something to do with what great works you own, right? I suck at Civ but thanks to this forum I get a little better each game!

Go to culture overview. You have «your culture». There are your great works. Look at the left, you see your wonders which have «theming bonus».
Fit the correct Great works into them and you will have additional tourism.
Example : Oxford University can have two great writing.
Put mouse on «+0» and you'll see the correct combination to have the bonus.

Also applies to museums, not just wonders. As Memoryjar says, mouse hovering on the +0 next to the wonder or museum will tell you precisely what you need to get the theming bonus. (Note that museums provide half of the normal theming bonus if you satisfy half of the requirements, while wonders require full compliance to get their theming bonus.) You can trade Great Works of Art and Writing, and artifacts, with other civs to help you get a theming bonus; you cannot trade music.
