So I discovered we can't play custom maps over internet multiplayer? "F THAT!" I said, and began searching...

After trying to learn how to write a script to call a map to somehow get it into the list, I discovered that 1 file in the map folder that was called for internet games was not a script, but a map file, so I figure, lets just rename my custom map to that name, and voila!

So anyway, here's how you do it:

copy your map file to the map folder located here: E:\steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\Maps (or wherever you have steam installed)

Rename M_AncientLake.Civ5Map to M_AncientLake.Civ5MapBackup or something, and rename your custom map to M_AncientLake.Civ5Map. It will now show up in the list of maps when hosting, under it's original name, not Ancient Lakes!

NOTE: Each player wishing to join the game must follow these steps.

anyone else give this a try? It works for the GnK Earth map.

Anyone know a better Earth map I can use? Bigger if possible. The bigger the better, lol.

Wow, that's some right there. Why on earth haven't they enabled these maps for multiplayer if it's as simple as flipping a switch?
