In the chat and other places it was mentioned that king units can increase in strength up to 12 times. What settings in the editor allow this and how do you control when they increase and to what? Is it the "king" ability? How does it work if set to regular units?

P.S. I don't think anybody know whether to put C3C editing questions in here or the customization forum. That could also be clearified.

I think you're getting mixed up with the Diaymo (sp) from the Japan Conquest. It can be upgraded as you go along the tech tree and as each of the upgrade units has the king flag still it doesn't kill of the civ who's doing the deed. Also the Diaymo actually have an attack/defense rating ( a fairly high one too ) unlike the leaders in the epic game which have none... still.

I could be wrong, I don't have conquests yet but that seems to be the long and the short of it.

P.S If you set the King attribute on a normal unit then if that unit is killed ( or all of that type of unit is killed ) then your civilization will be wiped out. I think that's how they work it unless they have some kind of varaible they set to 2 rather than 0 at the start of a 1-king-game as opposed to a three-king-game.

I suppose the editor could make upgradeable king units for the Epic game.

I don't see why not. The one trouble is the AI might be a bit too reckless with them. You don't want the poor things to get themselves eliminated just because you left too much of a space between upgrades and they attacked a Mech Infantry with a King which was a good match for a rifleman 100 turns before.

It could always be a really kick ass defensive unit which the AI would - hopefully - keep in it's capital.

If what's being said about the AI being able to recover from 3 cities and under then this would prevent untimely elimination by AI civs of opponents you want to keep in.

Anyone ever played a real world or europe map where Germany have lasted long enough to use their panzers?

Nope. I've always won before most nations got that level of tech, but then again... I only play on Regent. :p

Every map game I've played in where I wasn't Germany myself resulted in them being eliminated by either the French from the West, the Russians from the East, the Romans from the South or the Vikings from the North.

One of the weirdest games I ever played resulted in central Europe being devestated and carved up between the Mongols and Spain. ( I was busy conquering North Africa and Israel - England, you see ).

In PTW, I gave all the king (and queen) units ADM's of 3/3/3. Never saw them send a King unit out to fight.

true . the AI doesn't seem not to take advantage of the upgrade king. AI upgrades the king but it still sits mostly in it's capitol. of course i lost a game because i risked my king's neck( it was still early in the game) . As the game progresses I risk using my king less specially when horseman(also armies) comes in the play. ( then your shogun can't retreat ). still i use my king as a strong defender where he can be back by others units and heal at the later half of the game.i like the Shogun King idea.
the Shogun king is a unit upgrade with the king flag on in the editor. not only can you give your king more ( as in the Shogun) attack/defence but more abilities also.you upgrade your king like any other unit in the game.

How do they make it so they can be upgraded, but not built?
