Egypt after the new patch

Hello,

I tried the Egypt Challenge with the new patch and I failed horribly despite several attempts. Maybe somebody can offer me some advice.


So I am able to reach the first target on emperor.

With many tweaks I can finish Stonehenge and Pyramides by turn 60.

I am also able to get my second city (Per-Wadjit) and the Great Lighthouse till 100.

But then I am not able to finish Literature till 134 (and I have no even tried to get the Great Artist as I need a Great Engineer for Great Library).

I am thankful for each advice

(btw. for graphical reasons I have changed Stonehenge to Pyramides and Pyramides to Sphinx. (only the graphics no other adjustments) It just looks better. If you are interested then I will share the files)

Hello,

see the UHV should be reachable on all levels and I always play Emperor. Hence I want to discuss it.

the uhv was never reachable for all civs on emperor. This patch made it definitely worse, but rhye is balancing for monarch, which is a huge task on its own. To also balance it for emperor requires enormeous amounts of playtesting and might be even impossible without breaking monarch level.
 
I managed to achieve the first 2 conditions but definitely lost the third. Also, the "Egypt Longevity" quest is A LOT harder in the new version. Actually, it seems impossible.

About wonders graphics, there is already a modmod that changes Stonehenge to Sphinx. It's called "Decipher me or I'll devour you" in the modmod section. You have to browse to the page before the last to find the BTS update by Metal Alloy Man.

so how did you achive the second goal to get Literature in time ??
 
btw its impossible to get music in time for the last UHV.

Now for your question.....hmmmm..... have you tried trading techs with Greece? They usally have it. In my expericence its all a matter of luck.
 
Greece will never give you Literature (probably not even the previous one... gah I can't believe it but I can't remember its name). The problem is building the wonder in time not just research the tech, for this to work you need to have spawned a Great Engeneer in the capital. Don't use it for the Lighthouse , keep it for this. If you spawn a Great Priest... well, you lost.
I should also mention I am talking about monarch difficulty, sorry :D
However, have you tried winning with monarch before trying emperor ?

please stop talking about monarch level.

This thread is clearly aimed at talking about emperor level and only about emperor level. The idea is not to win the UHV. I have won the UHV before and it is just a game , you know.

The idea is to check, whether it is possible to win the UHV on emperor by some means. If not by no means I will reprogram the settings to make it possible (without luck).

It is clear that we need the Great Engineer to build the Great Library in time. (I have already reprogrammed the Stonehenge to provide a Great Engineer, so I take out the element of luck) It is also clear that we need to trade.

The challenge is to break out of Egypt and survive Yerusalem (starts with three archers and will use them to kill our warriors if we try to pass) in order to get in touch with other civs. Also Central Asia (and hence the way to Chine) is infested by loads of Barbarian Hordes.

So we must find a way to break at least through till India.

Greece wont trade with you, neither Polytheism nor Literature. Maybe we must reprogram them as well, if there is no way to get it from other civs ? Btw which tech can you offer other civs, we also have to plan for that. Egypt is really tight, so every step has to be exactly the right one.

As I said lets have a open discussion about it.

As per now I can provide a detailed plan to get Stonehenge and Pyramides till turn 60. If required I can share it. Maybe we can even still optimize that ?

(and I would like to repeat, if you have nothing else to say than :"Try Monarch" then please just dont say anything at all, because you are not helpful)
 
I *eventually* succeeded in an Egyptian UHV on Emperor on 1.181. It was painful though and I don't think I'm up for it again. Although there is now gold into the equation, I can't imagine that Egypt got any easier for 1.183.

as you dont have the time to research Mining (you have to go for Mysticism in order to build Stonehenge) the gold makes no difference at all.

Can you remember anything from your success ??

Cool, well we all apologized and there is no need to pick on someone who was just trying to help or share their experiences. Neither the title of the discussion nor your introduction are clear AT ALL about the fact you are speaking of Emperor level only. Again, sorry about that and have a nice day...
 
It might be barely doable if Great Artists were more willing to bulb Aesthetics (right now they'd prefer Monarchy and Alphabet of all techs) and the Temple of Artemis were built VERY early so Greece/Carthage would trade Polytheism for Aesthetics. My guess is, even if that were the case, it would still be impossible to actually build the GL in time.

Hello,

If I pick on someone it would sound different. I tried to be polite and not insulting. But I wanted to clarify my needs in a way that could not be misunderstood. If someone keeps repeating : "Try monarch, try monarch" then this is simply not a profound advice and neither a share in experience.

I really didnt want to sound rude, but I certainly was a little annoyed. Sorry for that.

Hello, but if we use a GP to bulb the tech, how can we use then the Great Person to build GL (GE) or to culture bomb the 5000 culture target ?

Is it possible to get 3 GPs ?

Hello,

these thread were pretty helpful and to some extend I was already on the right path. What is disturbing is that especially AP had used the word luck and reload very very often. I will try some more attempts but if it all depends on luck then I would honestly suggest to make many tweaks in order to make the experience less frustating.
 
Having 3 posts in a row. That must be a new record.
