Egypt HV problem

Here's the situation: I play Egypt going for Historical Victory (duh). I pass 500 culture before the deadline and build my requisite Wonders, plus two others (Stonehenge and Oracle). Bam, got my Arc de Triumph. No problem. From that point onward, I build literally almost nothing but Wonders, pausing for the occasional Theater, Library, Temple, Monastery, or defensive unit (damn Barbarians). I end up building literally every Wonder available except the Colosseum, Great Wall, and Hanging Gardens. I even build a totally unnecessary city and capture Aksum, just for the teeny amount of additional culture that the Pyramids would give them (and for the obvious additional theaters and libraries). I laugh and laugh at how awesome I'm doing. Then I get a message asking me if I want to play as the Vikings. Smelling something suspicious, I open up the Worldbuilder and HOLY CRAP IT'S 600 AD ALREADY? My deadline passed 150 years ago and I still only had ~4,400 culture.

So, what's the trick here, guys? Am I supposed to boost my culture my conquering large parts of the Middle East? Crank the culture slider up to eleven? What?

Grr. Oh well. I'm #1 in score right now for obvious reasons, so maybe I'll just ride out the remaining 1,400 years and hope for a Time victory :)

Switch to caste and hope for a Great Artist.

And don't build to much wonder because it/some might lessen the possibility of a Great Artist.

Yep, turning the culture slider up also does the job. There's no reason to continue research after you've built your necessary wonders. It's easily doable without any GA help.

You will usually need a Great Artist. Assign artist specialists in your best city. You should adopt Caste System for maximum artist specialists. I can usually generate two Great People before the deadline. It's not that hard to do and I have never had to ask God for assistance myself.

Actually, as it turns out, certain technologies provide a Great Artist to whoever discovers them first. So I did that, and now I'm teh sh!t.

With Egypt you should totally go for Domination... :p

... or at least Space Race. Those Pyramids will show you the way...

It's actually very possible to win a Diplomatic victory too :)

The easiest way to get it is to go caste for a great artist. Building more wonders is unnecessary. Also, is it possible to get Pacifism before time runs out? I forget which tech you need.

Why bother researching CoL and waiting around for God knows how many turns for a GP to appear in the HOPES that it will be a GA, when I could research Music instead and get a GA, guaranteed, right then and there?

But yeah, your way works a certain percentage of the time too.

I can see you haven't played the game much. But you should probably note that there is a wonder (I'll let you find out which one) that allows you to adopt Caste System very early, such that you don't need Code of Laws to do so.

Well, look at that... the properties of Stonehenge are different in the Warlords and BtS versions of the mod. It's funny that I didn't notice this, considering that in addition to the required wonders, I built Stonehenge just for the hell of it in my only BtS play-through so far.

The plan still requires praying that your next GP will be a GA, though, and considering the >99% chance that you'll be the first to discover Music...

Or maybe there's a random event that helped him on his research.

Edit: I've tried researching Music on Monarch and it's possible with the help of scientists using caste.(haven't on Emperor). Anyway there's a lot of strategies here in Egypt.
